Whats likely to happen with the key and hat market in TF2 in terms of value per item, and when? I know people who likely have some of these and would be interested to know.

Whats likely to happen with the key and hat market in TF2 in terms of value per item, and when? I know people who likely have some of these and would be interested to know.

I can tell you this:

Normal Hats wich you can purchase in the TF2 Mann.co store
Most hats wich you can buy are dropping in value slowly when they just came out, you may compare this with a graphics card, when they come out they are really expensive but over time they get cheaper.
But at some point the price dropping stops.

Unusual hats
These will never drop in value since these super rare items will only drop in-game one time.

Some hats like these:

(bad but only picture i could find of the Modest /w Beams)
http://tf2g.com/img/hats/unusual/all/modestpileofhat_sunbeams_none_429.jpg

are sold for $600 a piece and I do not expect these kind of items to drop in value.
But most unusuals are around $200 - 300 bucks.

Keys
These will prolly not drop in value.
They will only drop in value if alot of people refuse to open crates cause of the chance of getting something really rare out of it is smaller then 1%.
Though, you will always recceive some kind of weapon or a normal hat wich are worth around $ 3-30 a piece depending on when they where released.

Hope I informed you guys well enough.

oh also, there alot of scammers around wich go to servers where alot of dumb people play.
These scammers actually earn thousands of dollars of these kids by buying and reselling these rare items.
So be aware.

I think the biggest/main problem with this idea is the trade imbalance between two systems. If way more people end up wanting Bitcoin than TF2 keys, you'll end up flooding the TF2 market with keys that are pegged to USD, but are actually worth less. It'll be pretty much like the situation with US and China, with US wanting Chinese goods, and China ending up being stuck with lots of much cheaper USD while still trying to peg their currency to USD.

Well i suppose there can be a market for mann.co keys for bitcoins

A lot of bitcoiners are TF2 players, so... i for example would buy some keys. And the price is of course the price they are sold by Valve, easy.
