ICOs aren't going to be as easy to garner attention as they used to be.

I think that we're shifting from unregulated ICOs to regulated ICOs. And the KYC laws surrounding these ICOs are going to pretty strict. In the next 5 years, it should be expected that a lot of big companies come up with their own initial coin offerings as well, just like Telegram is planning on doing.

Overall, expect more regulations in the ICO sphere. It's going to be harder and harder for devs to pitch their ideas across, when they have so many competitors.

ICOs will evolve into STOs (Security Token Offers) which are mostly the same thing, but regulated. Unfortunately ICOs are raising funds from the public without any rule, some of them are scams and other ones do change rules after they announced things, even after people have invested in them. I do not like regulation, however I don't like to be in the "law of the jungle" either. There has to be some order and unfortunately this means some kind of regulation. Also, I don't think that they will be as attractive as today. They will change, evolve, and adapt.

Going to be hell of a hard time for ICO projects to lift off and reach their soft/hard caps as we'll be witnessing tens of thousands of projects passing by and only a small portion out of this would truly have the potential to succeed. As far as breakthroughs are concerned, they'll be coming only on the form of brilliant ideas and nothing less than that.

Your opinion completely coincides with mine. Regulation is a complex process in which it is necessary to find a balance between protecting the interests of participants in the cryptocurrency market and improper control and appropriation of private funds. I very much hope that this balance will be achieved, and the market of cryptocurrency will become safer.

After 5 years, when considering current ICOs, we will Identified what are the truly successful project and how far they achieve their targets. Also In the future many ICOs will start to relate with different purposes. Hence more governments will make regulations to control ICOs. ICOs which scam will increase in future. Hence more ICO ranking methods and Associations will establish to control for those scams. If the cryptocurrency able to accept more countries then new opportunities will create. New opportunities will lead to jobs. People will start to do jobs relate to ICO projects. Personally I believe after 5 years people will tend to cryptocurrency that lead to start more ICOs.  Also Industries will use ICOs for find more Investors to success their Project. While ICOs prove its eagerness to show additions to the blockchain technology, as long as something could be changed then ICO will continue to grow even more stronger in the succeeding years. However since scams are an issue, it could be slowed down by some legalized requirements soon if these scams continued to go on. Government would just aid their people to invest carefully in projects that could end up worse in a minute if it reaches its final stage in the map.

Over the recent days, or should be like this entire quarter is pretty low on ICOs, however over the past few months we have also seen  lot of scams raising money from ico too.
This correction was required and now only the genuine icos are surviving.
This is good and make me belive more into genuine icos and they are at the moment good way to raise funds for a new project.

I can understand your concern perfectly because unfortunately they are a lot of ICOs going on which are really a scam. but fortunately they are also ICO rating sites where one can eliminate the real scams from the more serious ICOs. The second step is then to trust the project and the team. Yes mate I totally agree with you. I suppose the amount of ICO will hopefully decrease 10 or 20 times. Large amount of them are scams and copies of existing projects bringing no creative or new ideas to the community.
And the most evil that they are the reason why cryptocurrencies being considered negative and suspicious.

Knowing that more ICOs are now being going through KYC process and probably this will slowly change the system of being unregulated to regulated. Future of ICOs are always threatened and under fire due to a lot of scam projects that are present today. They bring down with them even those good ICOs with high potential to the dirt. Therefore, ICOs in the future will be a little difficult. It will then be inevitable that ICOs in the future will be highly regulated for strict compliance. This works in the best interest of both investors and developers and even bounty hunters. But for the most parts, taxation might be implemented by then.

But this will ensure that legit ICOs will be entertained.

Not sure what the future will bring but I hope:

1) ICO's are more regulated, less money-grabs
2) Investment options are much more transparent and not too much focused on raking in $30m in a single round
3) Exchanges will perhaps simply add ICO's to their platform, hence bringing more safety (and functions as a third trusted party).

I wouldn't want to see them gone, and a form of high-risk, high-reward needs to be there, as otherwise no one will buy in anymore...
