If Bitcoin is banned and removed from Crypto, I will choose Ethereum to replace Bitcoin in its portfolio. Ethereum would be the choice of many if Bitcoin removed because Ethereum is now second only to Bitcoin and it has the potential to surpass number one.

I don't think that there will be anything like bitcoin , because if any government will ban bitcoin then in that case not only they will make rule for bitcoin but also for another cryptourrency which are in the use right now .
So I don't think that there be a h option for us in the future if bitcoin get banned .
But still here we should see towards another big economic countries where they allowed to use bitcoin with high tax system , so here we should remain positive to have use of bitcoin in the future where bitcoin is not yet legalised or regulated .

No Doubt that Your thinking is limited much because here you can understand very well that if any government will ban bitcoin then surely they will ban another cryptourrency with this because if rule will be made by the government of any country than that will be applicable for every coin equally to use .
So I don't think there will be any replacement option in that case because everything will be banned by them .
But still beside these things we can see that most of the countries are accepting bitcoin with better better regulation rules that are not giving opportunity to the people to make earnings easily but also with the High taxation rules economy of the country increasing , so keep himself tension free from everything and do the best as you can in this field.
