I don't think that we can call it riding. Blockchain is really useful specially protecting your company's data. And we all know that data is a very big assets and its like the backbone of all businesses around it.

So its logical for a company as big as Samsung to really take advantage of this technology. this is interesting but the more interesting and also relevant to bitcoin news is all the big companies that are starting to get involved with bitcoin one way or another. most of them are just adding bitcoin payment to their platforms but some like the computer hardware manufacturers such as Intel are starting to produce ASIC machines for mining which is so great for further decentralization of bitcoin.

People talk a lot of how archaic banks are, but I must say that the shipping industry is probably even worse. There are always a huge number of papers involved in each transaction (like clear payments, contracts, inventory, etc), so I'm sure the blockchain will make a huge difference for this business, and this move from Samsung doesn't surprise me. They are actually very committed to the blockchain, by first entering the asic industry, and will now actually use the blockchain technology to simplify their shipping department.

I know this is not directly related to bitcoin, but unlike banks, that keep trying to separate bitcoin from the blockchain, I think that every legit blockchain application legitimizes bitcoin, because in the end, BTC was the first application that open roads to all of these innovations.
