Hi there all

thought I would introduce myself, looking at all these different coins etc can get a little confusing.

I have a i7 with 16gigs ram dell XPS at home, and at work I have 2 i5's available to me.

What would you recommend I mine with that hardware specification?

Hi,

as fas as i understood the whole topic is using a i5 or i7 waste of money.
The way to go seems to be a a sic miner, they do the job much faster and
with less power consumption than a desktop computer.

Thanks for the reply, the computers at work are on all the time doing very little anyway, so thought I may as well put them to use

Was thinking about an Asic for the computer at home

But what coins would people recommend I mine for?

Hey, and welcome to the community! Always nice to see new faces.

With those CPU's you could mine CPU-only coins like Quarkcoin, Protoshares, Primecoin and Securecoin to name a few. Just use the forum search for CPU only coin and i'm sure you will find a lot. Make sure the coin you mine is on an exchange so you can cash them in.

If your going the ASIC route, it all depends on how much power your gonna buy. I, for example, have about 4GHS, so I go on sites like Coinwarz to calculate the profitability of the coins with my hardware. Great site, I have it in my bookmark bar.
