Does an increase in transactions as happening in ETH lead to a delay in letters?
I think it is necessary for letters to send and receive quickly.

Hi, supply is fixed, so there is no changing that.
And the reason for the STPZ per ETH rate increase (or price decrease),
is to boost our development funds in order to better achieve our milestones.
If we can do this, it will be better for all of us in the long term
as we'll be able to get the network up and running and put Stamps to use.

Hi, How are you?
Really good question and great point.
You are right that it is necessary to send and receive messages quickly.

We could, for example, build CodeMail on top of the Ethereum platform.
It has everything you need technically to build a communication platform and you could create a dApp in Solidity to do just this.

However, two major problems in doing so are speed (as you have highlighted) and cost.
Ethereum has struggled under any significant load and this will continue to be the case in the near future.
It would be very annoying to send a message and have it stuck in a pending state waiting for the transaction to be confirmed while the network is congested.
Also, cost is an issue. Gas costs are just too high to send messages and store data encrypted on the Ethereum blockchain.

So, while we are big fans of Ethereum, we have decided that we need to build a platform from the bottom up that is specifically designed for communication and data transfer. Communication needs to happen quickly and costs need to be kept to an absolute minimum. Data will be stored redundantly and spread out geographically in order to be delivered quickly to users. And costs will be kept in line by the supply/demand of network resources - if demand and therefore cost rise, new node operators will be incentivized to lend their resources, which should increase supply and bring the cost back down.
