Hey everyone, I am officially announcing the launch of a new bitcoin gambling game... Coin Controller!

What is it?
Coin Controller is a Bitcoin "chain" game, based partly off of the popular "The Magnificent Bitcoin Gem" game which was around for a short while earlier this year. I have taken a similar idea, but improved it and taken it to the next level.

The Concept
  • There are multiple "Coins" which can be "purchased" or "controlled" by players. Each coin works a little bit differently, and has a different starting price.
  • When somebody takes control of a coin (ie, places a bet), they become the "owners" or "controllers" of that coin. This allows them to show a name, message and URL of their choice. But more importantly, it raises the price of the coin.
  • When the next person takes control of the coin (for the increased rate), the previous player receives his/her full payment back, plus a profit
  • The price continues to increase, until somebody triggers a random "reset" of the game. Whoever triggers the reset loses their bet (the guy before still gets his back), and the coin is now owned by nobody and returns to its original price. Each coin has a different chance to reset, 1% - 10%. This means that you have a 90% - 99% to get your money back plus a profit.
  • Each successful payout adds to the jackpot. You have a 1% chance to win the jackpot on each turn, regardless if you reset the game or not
  • If no one takes control of the coin from you within 48 hours, and you were the first buyer, then you get a full refund back, minus a 0.0001 transaction fee. However, if the chain is already started and you are the last player holding the coin for a full 48 hours (ie, no one has bought it from you in 2 days) , then your bet is simply lost. The reasoning for this is explained on the site, and in another post.
  • Earn 20% of the profit on each bet placed by players referred by you with our affiliate program! See more here: https://coincontroller.com/affiliates

For more info and more details on how to play, see here: https://coincontroller.com/how-to-play
details on how it is provably fair are also in the above link.

Come check us out! https://coincontroller.com

RULE CHANGE : You no longer lose your bet after 48 hours of no new bets. Instead, after the 48 hours are up, the coins price (and your bet) are reduced by 20%, and then further reduced every 12 hours after, until the coin either reaches its starting value, or is bought out by somebody. Coins will now only ever reset if triggered by a bets lucky number.

Hey everyone, I am officially announcing the launch of a new bitcoin gambling game... Coin Controller!

You might think your method is provably fair, but it is not. In three points it fails to be provably fair, you need to fix all them but I'm leaving the fun of finding them to you -- which should be obvious if you knew what constitute provably fair.

How so?

*edit* Give me some pointers on what the main issues with how I have it set up are, and they can be changed within a day or so. Like I said this is just version 1

The thing about these games is that they don't cost the site operator anything and pose no risk to the operator. The more people play on their site, the more money they make.

Wow, that's nice.  Everything is just like those coinbomb/bitpotato games, but what I'm surprised is that you say if no one buys the coin, you get REFUNDED???  Could you please confirm this?

Thats right. Rather than just take your money for myself, it gets auto refunded if no one buys in 24 hours, your full bet minus 0.0001 for a tx fee Smiley

If you go here: https://coincontroller.com/stats and scroll down a bit, it shows the last 10 refunds. As you can see, there are a couple bets from before I really advertised which had reached the 24 hour expire limit. It also shows the bet ID, which you can enter into the bet lookup form here: https://coincontroller.com/how-to-play#lookup to see more details about the bet.

Bets are automatically refunded when...
  • No one buys the coin off you in 24 hours
  • You send less than the minimum amount to the provided deposit address during the initial time window (too low)
  • Your payment is received, but takes longer than the hour time window to confirm

Note that refunds only occur once the payment you originally made reaches 1 confirmation.

Also, it is technically possible to send multiple payments to the same deposit address, as long as it is for the same bet and within the given time window (please do not send to same address when making another bet). Example: Supposed to send 0.01 BTC for the bet, but accidently only send 0.005. You can still send the other 0.005 and it will still count towards your bet payment.

Yes, thats kind of the point. I wouldnt spend dozens of hours making something for the chance for me to lose money now would I? :p

Another Bitcoin gem/tulip? Interesting website.

Thats right. As far as I know, I think most of the existing ones are either shut down, or pretty quiet and/or dead? We have been keeping fairly active the past couple days. So far 39 payouts have been made to players, for a total of 0.31 BTC sent out. Not too crazy but not too bad either

it seems like if you try and use a nickname that is already registered with someone else, it just wont load and wont tell you that its already taken. If you make a really random username it usually works

You forgot to revisit your "provably fair" method (good that you also used quotes for that, as it is false). There are two points that definitively defeat the fairness, and another one that does too but after clarification might be fine.

You still have not made any mention as to how exactly it isnt provably fair... and for the record I do plan on revisiting it anyways, but like most people, I also have to work, plus I have several projects on the go. Only so many hours in the day my friend Smiley

Great to hear!

We will be adding 3 additional coins to buy, as well as adjusting the increase rate and reset chance values for the existing coins. So there will be several levels of play, and more chances to win!

Since there is no effort in understanding why this is not provably fair, here is the first place where it fails:

A random number between 0 and 1000 (known as a "nonce")

This is also the first step of your method.

To the owner: before you reply saying this is false and doesn't make it not provably fair, take at least some minutes to think about it.

not entirely sure why you seem to be trying to start an argument here.. I said it was provably fair, but I didnt say that your claim that it wasnt is false. I just asked how you came to that conclusion. I have been putting thought into it, I just havnt posted about it yet.

Here is what im thinking for updating the provably fair scheme:
  • Use the first 5 characters or something of the bet transaction ID as the nonce, rather than a simple server side generated random number
  • Changing the "coin flip" (decide wether target is high or low) to be based on something not controlled by the server... not sure what  yet though
  • Hashing the client seed on the client side, before its sent to the server

What do you think?

Good that you pointed the target being high or low, as that is another problem. The final problem, that requires clarification, is defining very clearly how you pick the unix timestamp of time of purchase.

So we agree that currently you have 3 flaws, so it is not provably fair. Right ?

You should just check out what Satoshi Dice does (the legacy version) and base on that.

If you are using time() (or any other OS-related function) then that confirmed my suspicion, that is not fair in any way, even if you tried to. So yes, you need a timestamp that is publicly recorded if you want to continue using it. The previous suggestion stands.

Added 3 additional coins to purchase, and adjusted the coin values so there are several levels of play. From 1 BTC all the way down to 0.000055 BTC, and 75% to 99% chance to get your money back plus profit. Going to release a design/front end update within the next few days, and also update/improve the provably fair scheme over the weekend.

Great first week!

Just updated the site! Another update coming probably sometime tomorrow which will tweak some things, add the timer back in and add some other effects.

Great weekend so far!

Here are the changes:
  • update game design, much less 'scrolly' now, looks a little nicer
  • Fixed some issues with the mobile version, purchase form is now actually usable when on a phone
  • Updated the reset/increase values for each of the coins. added an experimental "magic" coin where you can double your money each turn Smiley
  • Improved the provably fair scheme to be more fair... timestamp is now taken from your bitcoin transaction, nonce is taken from your transaction ID, and the "coin flip" is determined by the time your transaction was included in the blockchain (blocktime). See how-to-play for more details

More updates still on the way, stay tuned. Any feedback is appreciated.

Something is wrong there..

When i open the Website...this happens all the time

I can't close the window or anything else...it stays just like that

hey, the most likely reason is you just needed to refresh your browser cache (refreshing page couple times usually works). We just updated the entire front end this weekend, as well as fixing a number of issues.

Great weekend btw, many profits for all and several BTC spent on the site Smiley

Important rule change: There are no longer bet refunds after 24 hours. Instead, it now works like this: After 48 hours, if you were the first person in the chain (first buyer of a coin since it last reset) and no one has bought the coin, you get a full refund on your bet. However, if the chain has already started, and you are the last one holding it for a full 48 hours, then your bet is simply lost.

The reason for this is that on the first buy, the server has the full funds sitting in its wallet, and can refund if needed no problem. Once people start buying the coin from each other, the server is just acting as a middle man, sending money back and forth, and just keeping a portion of the difference. So when a situation arises where a coin starts off at say 0.1 BTC, and then gets all the way up to 5 BTC, then no one buys for 24 hours... that money has to come from my pocket.. so I might have made say, 2 BTC profit from all the transactions, that still puts me in the negative. Something I didnt consider in my original calculations Tongue hope you all understand.

So I updated the rules for bet expirations a bit again, this time I think its much more fair (less risk for players).

You no longer lose your bet after 48 hours of no new bets. Instead, after the 48 hours are up, the coins price (and your bet) are reduced by 20%, and then further reduced every 12 hours after, until the coin either reaches its starting value, or is bought out by somebody. Coins will now only ever reset if triggered by a bets lucky number.

Also, now supporting Litecoins! There is two coins that can be bought with LTC. Most likely going to be adding more, and organize it a bit better (switch between BTC coins and LTC coins or something). Any feedback is appreciated

No worries! Any ideas on where to get more litecoin players besides litecoin forums and the litecoin reddit?

Also, somebody won our first somewhat big jackpot! 0.14 BTC off of a 0.01 bet, not too bad.

You should receive payment as soon as the next player buys you out. There was a glitch this morning though which was preventing bets from being confirmed properly (and paying out previous buyer). Should be fixed now though.

Can you confirm for me that you have received your return?

Do you happen to know what your bet ID was, or what the transaction ID of the bet you sent is..? (you can PM it to me)

thanks

What is the point of the coin reset? Just to make more money or something? Because you guys already profit from each transaction, and shouldn't the priced reduction after a certain time period take care of the coin not resetting or whatever?

I played it a couple of times, I would play more if there was no reset chance.

I played it a couple of times, I would play more if there was no reset chance.

Actually, I would make more money off of each transaction if there was no resets.. since the higher the price of each coin = higher profit for each player = higher profit for me. The problem is that the prices would quickly get way too high for most people to play, since most people probably arnt going to drop several hundred $ worth of BTC on a game, especially if they havnt played before and don't already know that its legit. The price reductions dont come into effect until 48 hours of no one playing, and only occur every 12 hours after.

So essentially what would happen is everything would keep going up in price, and then basically come to a complete stand still for several days until the price is lowered enough to become affordable again, but even then it would pretty much still cut out anyone who wants to play with small amounts (say, >= 0.001 ). That would be pretty lame if you ask me

also, just to clarify, when a coin is reset, no extra profit is made for me. The majority of it is just used to pay out the previous player. The exception to this is if there is no previous player (i.e, you were the first person to buy the coin since the last reset), in which case the house keeps the bet. This rarely happens though, with the exception of the magic coin, since it has a much higher chance to reset than others (50%), but the starting bet for magic coin is also only 0.000055

Well now I understand why the resets are in place, but the ratios for me are just too high. Why would anyone by the gold or silver coin? For example, the gold coin gives a %10 profit, but a 15% chance to lose your bet, I don't see why anyone would do that. Surely the reset percentage could be lowered, or I would even rather have a 24 hour window to resell my coin and lose my ENTIRE bet after that window is up. If you guys don't even make an extra profit from the reset trigger, I'm sure there can be a better way to keep the bets resetting every so often. without the aid of the reset trigger. Because for me, and probably many other people, the only reason why I'm not playing, is because the reset chance is just too scary for me.

fair enough. to be honest iv mostly just been playing around with the numbers to try and find what works best. Havnt changed it in a while though.

Any specific suggestions on what some of the reset / ROI ratios should be? Im open to changing them. Id love to get some people actually playing the diamond coin to, its the only one that has never been bought Cheesy

what if the ROI on each coin was say like.. double the reset chance? so 10% reset chance would get you 20% return on your investment? Or maybe 15%?

If you made the ROI double of the reset chance I think that would be a really good idea. I haven't looked into the numbers myself but if you really do profit more when it doesn't reset I don't see a reason to not make the reset % at like 5 and the ROI at 25 or 30. If large increases from transaction to transaction is a problem you could decrease the profit house-end which would allow for more transactions and although you may not make as much in the short run it might actually be beneficial in the long run.

Ok I have now updated pretty much all the coins to a) have a lower chance to reset (less chance to straight up lose your money), and b) higher ROIs on most coins. Prices will go up quite a bit faster, but there will also be alot more profit made each time. For instance good luck coin now gives a  15% return on investment at a 1% chance to reset, instead of just a 2.5% return.

any feedback appreciated

this game and all chain games are not provably fair.

This game is basically a scam, it is not considered gambling.
The results you see are provable yes, but the game is not provably fair.

Basically these scams work like so:

1) You can by 1 magnificent turd for 0.01 BTC, look at how the stink lines rise and  the flies hover.
2) Derp derp derpity do, you just gave us money, now the turd stinks even more and costs 0.02 BTC for the next sucker to buy it.
3) Oh no, where you the only last human to play this game (all other bets are run by bots controlled by site owner).
4) Oh noooooo, the timer reset - after a busy day of bots players pushing the price up it magically stopped with you.

im going to guess you did not bother reading up anything on how the site works at all? Your argument says absolutely nothing. All money that is sent to the site with the exception of the money played first in the chain is immediately paid out to whoever the previous player was. Even on the first turn, the money is either refunded if no one ends up playing after X amount of time, or it ends up getting paid out. Yes, I do take a cut out of the money that gets passed back and forth, but if I didnt then what would be the point in running the website? Half of that cut is also used to pay affiliate advertisers and fund the jackpot.

There is no timer that resets. If you start a game off and no one plays, you get your money back. If someone else does play and the chain is started, and then everyone stops playing for multiple days, then all that happens is your bet value is lowered a bit every 12 hours until somebody buys in again, so you will always get at least something back.

The game can be randomly reset by your bet though (which is the part that is provably fair), which is where the gambling aspect comes in to play (besides hoping someone else will buy in). Otherwise the prices would just keep going up and it would grind to a halt.

Or in other words...

THIS GUY HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT AND MY TEXT IS BIGGER

ITS A SCAAAAAAAAAM

This site is likely a scam, the game is PROVABLY UNFAIR just by how the rules work.

trolls gonna troll I guess. You have made absolutely zero argument as to how my method of processing bets and the system in general is unfair. "just by how the rules work" lol are you joking?

If you look earlier in this thread you will see actual legitimate concerns on the betting algorithm, which has since been addressed and no one has confronted me once since about a flaw that makes it provably un-fair. Im all ears if you actually have a real concern. All you are saying is a bunch of bullshit gibberish about turds that makes no sense.

lol, the scammer attacks the reviewer for his bad review.

Anyway, here is the scammer revealed in all his repulsiveness:

The onus is on you to bear the proof man

His provably fair claims are dismissed due to being quite obviously not provable fair (see thread here for a very clear example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=529547.0 ) so then he insists the burden of proof is on me.

Its quite simple folks, if you cannot prove its fair it is not "provably fair". Its not a case of throwing a little tantrum like SlickTheDick  here is - you back up your claims or STFU.

ugh, this is getting silly. Could really use a mod to back me up here, this is pretty blatantly retarded. Nice going spamming the forums, I hope it just drives some more traffic to my site.

cant back up your claims of provably fair so you go running to a moderator ?
Pretty pathetic for a casino operator.

All you have to do is explain how you are "Provably Fair" or admit you were mistaken (more likely a scammer) and stop claiming "Provably Fair".

You know, I should have bet money that you were going to saying something about me "crying to the moderators". How predictable.

do you not have eyes? Tell me which part sounds like its not fair to you and I will give you an answer. if you are right and its not then I will change the algorithm so it is. What part of this dont you get?
