If that happens it will be long waited moment for altcoiners.
I don't believe it will have any negative impact on btc price, as there is already a eth fiat pair.

What do you think?

This is a long dream come true for many traders and it took long enough for an exchange to come up with an idea like this one. This is going to impact the prices negatively by a very small margin as we will surely see day traders preferring to cash out their daily earnings on a very regular basis.

unlike you, i don't think this is something with that much demand. as the fiat volumes of altcoins so far suggests people are more willing to trade with their bitcoins instead of fiat and there are a lot of benefits to that which is why they chose it.

in any case i am somewhat excited about this because we have been speculating about having more fiat markets for altcoins and the effects of that, maybe we can once and for all see if our speculations were correct or not.

There is a FOMO brewing...

Binance Announces Fiat-to-Crypto Trading Pairs in a Move That Could Shift Reliance Away from Bitcoin

Cryptocurrency exchange leader Binance says it’s working on fiat-to-crypto features that could have a major impact on the market’s reliance on Bitcoin.

Now that it’s moving to Malta, the company says it’s talking with banks on the small island nation and expects to close a deal that will allow it to accept fiat deposits and withdrawals.

If that happens it will be long waited moment for altcoiners.

This will likeley have a pretty negative impact on Bitcoin. However, the news might not be strong enough to knock Bitcoin down. Usually things that force Bitcoin down are huge whales pulling out, people banning Bitcoin, wallet hacks, etc. This will have a negative effect on Bitcoin because it offers more power to the altcoins. Being able to directly buy altcoin would rremove the need to go through another coin to buy whatever you want. Right now, that's what many people are doing with Bitcoin, so if they stop buying Bitcoin, we may see less traffic.

This area is up for grabs! PM me if you're interested.

Indeed it will be beneficial to long time holders of the alts. We need not convert our alts to bitcoin and incur fees then again convert bitcoin to fiat and again incur fees. This will really save us more of the trouble. But for newbies, most of their entry point is bitcoin. So this does not really benefit them at all. So the price of bitcoin i think wont really make any difference.
Yeah, for those who have a very strong project that will do well in the long term and for those who have project that would kick in real demand for it. It is good that Binance is really deciding to take this step and from the look of things, it would really mean a lot for the exchange itself in terms of trading volume. I guess this move to Malta is really going to be paying them off a lot. I believe there would be an evolution as well with the exchanges this year. Let's see how it goes.

Moreover that announcement is really going to be a very sweet one for those who are holding good projects anyway and as long as reliance is shifted away from bitcoin, most of the altcoins should have a reason to be able to do well on their own. It is good for the market, and that should at least also bring in some maturity. However, I really hope that reliance won't still be there as most traders still have that perception of using alts to build their btc portfolio and if that keeps happening, we may still see that move following bitcoin.

Well, before we need to buy bitcoin transfer it to our wallets then trade. Now we can buy directly from fiat to whichever altcoin we want tto buy. We need not go through buying bitcoin thus it minimizes the fees we incur everytime we convert. This is a good move from binance knowing it has a lot of investors.

That are already other fiat pairs, such as ltc and eth.

But this article is exactly about that, not being forced to buy btc first, as you will lose money along the convertion
