I believe a forum is a form of social media because we are all interacting, we just aren’t “friends” on this platform, id like to see bitcoin forum create a platform though, this would give BTC a step in the right direction towards becoming mainstream.

using Facebook and Twitter is part of an advertising strategy. All of the campaigns are using facebook and twitter for mainly educate and advertise the bitcoin direct to social media users. Using Facebook and Twitter are the main medium and make a big impact to the social media and one of the main reason is to directly reach-out the individuals to tell them using bitcoin it will help you to save and make a profit.

Op's suggestion isn't out of place but maybe he didn't understand thats what the forum is already doing and like somebody said, bitcoin involves high level of security because it involves huge money investment. We are already doing well and going like facebook etc would further expose us to bigger level of scam. The security, red lights from members warning others is really ok and working. I'm enjoying this forum mods and handlers. They are up in their game.

Hello guys I know you have heard about the recent banning of cryptocurrency by facebook and twitter. And is somewhile I am thinking if we could just have a social media of our own which is dedicated to the growth and development of cryptocurrency. With this I am asking the creator of this forum if they will accept this idea that they will create an extension of this forum that looks like facebook and twitter so that we no longer need to use facebook and twitter anymore. This is a call for revolution against those social media sites who are abusing their power and authority.
So what do you think guys is my opinion good or just a plain nonsense.
I think we there's no need for this, those social media's like facebook and twitter are used by ICO's and cryptocurrency related services to promote their project, and we are already doing this here in the forum (bounty and signature campaigns). The only difference is it is more effective to advertise to those social media platforms because it has more traffic. And also creating a social media for cryptocurrency investors/traders is not a good idea, of course we always want to remain anonymous. About the social media banning those cryptocurrency ads, I don't think that they are abusing their power to destroy cryptocurrency market, it is just that there are lots of fraudulent and scam advertisements that is being broadcast in their platform, and of course they will find a solution to prevent those fraudulent activities to happen in their websites, but they should allow those legit or reputable crypto related companies to advertise.

So what do you think guys is my opinion good or just a plain nonsense.
It's not a bad idea, I just think that it's not necessary at the moment because as one user already pointed out there's a lot of places to post and share ideas about crypto development. Also people can still post whatever they want on facebook and twitter it's not like you'll get banned for posting crypto stuff. You can make a thread on the new forum software board for a more detailed post or just move this thread there. If this becomes a reality I would still use Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites because one website isn't enough for me and I doubt everyone would use right away. I am thinking if we could just have a social media of our own
I thought that's what we were already doing here? I would argue that a forum is social media, and here we all are, socializing on an internet platform. What do you believe to be missing from this website that would be required to make a Social Media Platform? Maybe he wants a feature where you can follow/add users just like what you can do on Facebook and Twitter.

We need facebook and tweeter. We, as a matter of fact, in them do advertising and we show, we bring new people in business. But it is not profitable for them to drive out, as there will be less users and their rating will fall. To me, in life they are not needed, not interesting, I love real life.

I strongly agree with you that this bitcoin forum should be able to create its own social media to replace Facebook and Twitter for the progress of this forum.

I believe it's the power of the community having same beliefs and we trust in decentralization. Even though the crypto forums don't have decentralized infrastructure when it comes to forums, they respect the opinion of the users and I would appreciate the management of Bitcointalk for adopting changes suggested by the members. I won't blame anyone when it comes to the giants in social media because as a user, I know if I am not paying anything then I am giving my data which is used by those sites to make money.

~ have a social media of our own which is dedicated to the growth and development of cryptocurrency. ~
there is already this forum and a couple of others, there is Reddit, there is mailing lists, IRC channels and for real development there is github where you can see the code and pull requests,... Facebook and the others were not used for "growth and development" they were used for advertising ICO crap every day. Yes I think it's none of bitcoin forum's business to run a social media site like Facebook or Twitter. This forum and some other sites are already enough to promote bitcoin.

In all honesty, we really don't need something like Facebook and Twitter. They are social media sites that are merely used by the masses and will not help the growth that we seek for cryptocurrency. Those platforms are only targeted by the people who wanted to promote their ICOs to those who don't know anything about it and get their dumb money for easy profit.
What we really need to do is to provide verifiable and true information about cryptocurrency to the masses. They don't need to provide their personal identity to get involved in cryptocurrency (in contrary to what Facebook is doing). We don't need to copy the concept behind those identity-mining companies.

I for one supports this notion wholeheartedly; since most youths these days are involved one way or the other in cryptocurrency, having a platform that can host different mindsets in one place would be quite innovative. Apart from the fact that this platform can be a guide to 1st timers who would like to ask much questions, it can also be an avenue to be abreast of what is trending in the global market per time and keep ou conscious of token sale etc. So i say it should start in earnest, if possible.

Isn't it happening already. Forums are also becoming social media sites. You see memes, you see drama, you see shit. what else do you want? Only dating is not happening, give it some time,it'll happen too. Revolution? LOL Revolution for what? Did Roger Ver send you? What I think is that your opinion is much much worse than plain nonsense. So yeah, probably you got your answer.

I believe that the development of cryptocurrencies goes beyond the promotion of ICOs in social networks, and we must keep in mind that the Internet is much more than Facebook and twitter because there are thousands of websites where we can still share and investigate about the advances of this vast crypto universe.
In fact, places social networks like Reddit and Steemit have proven to be more adequate and efficient to share information on these issues than Facebook and twitter, so I think we can survive without them.

I am still wondering what exactly could be done on social media like Facebook and Twitter which could not be on this well fortified forum. Mode of operations may be different but even if it becomes necessary for such a platform, I would rather suggest another section be created in this forum to cater for whatever is to be done on your proposed social media site.

This is a good idea and it’s sad that Facebook and Twitter is doing the banning. However, like some have already said this is pretty much the new social media for this. Where people can meet specifically like minded people and communicate and meet. This site is very promising and the more people learn about this the better.

Maybe he wants a feature where you can follow/add users just like what you can do on Facebook and Twitter. Our good pal Xetsr has not made this an easy thing to figure out, because they've posted this thread and left us in the dust. I hope they pop their head back in here for a little bit of elaboration and collaboration to build up their idea or mark it as impossible. It would seem of minimal benefit to implement such a feature, who would that benefit? I imagine it would cause a lot of people to be followed around the forum more than they already are. Lower-ranking members following the reputable higher-ranking members to rephrase their posts and pass them off as their own.

For me we don't need to create another social media site for our discussion Bitcointalk forum is enough fo us. Even social media campaign remove we have an additional options like signature campaign, youtube and blogging this campaign is really enough to promote ICO's bounty campaign. For making videos in YouTube we could also Advertise bounties and Ico. So we have mo problem if social media banned promoting cryptocurrency as long as promoters and bounty hunters deserves to earn and to help they would do all things no matter what happened.

Use Bitcoin to bring new flavors for content creation and social interaction, such as reviews and photo sharing, through economic incentives. Bitcoin fans are unable to use these networks with networks using alternative currencies. Through Bitcoin to motivate content creation and online interaction, it will outperform those social networking platforms that use alternative currencies. If you want to go beyond FACEBOOK, there is still a long way to go for blockchain technology, at least to reflect true decentralized management and confidence storage, and to make your own advantages is fundamental.
