Explainations for Newbies

Developer : TEAM        - More than one developer. Excellent as it shows strong ongoing support for the coin.
Normal Nic - Good as it shows a developer who is known to the community.
" "             - Bad as it shows a forum account that is made up to keep the Dev anonmynous.
UNKNOWN - Very Bad as it shows no information on the dev is availible.

Active     : Ongoing     - Very good shows steady progress
Slow         - Good, progess is being made.
Stalled      - Bad , no progress/promotion/posting by developer but they may be around if the coin needs support.
Abandoned- Very Bad, Dev has not been in forum for months, coin has no support

Released : Date of release, list is in chronological order. The reason for this is the longer a coin has been around the greater the chance is that it will continue to do so.
A coin may be green lower down the list, but thats no gaurantee that the developer won't dump and abandon it, If it has recently been added

Accepted:  Accepted means used as a currency by websites, one website put up by a developer does not count.
Is the coin accepted on websites as payment ?. This is because there are two schools of thought as to the value of altcoins.
One school believes that for a crypto to be valuable, it must represent real world goods and act as a currency.
The other believes that altcoins can act as a store of value so the rarity of the coin is most important.
I leave it to the reader to make up their own minds how important this is.

Color Coding : This is a little more subjective but the color codes are Most Likely to succeed, Likely to succeed, Need more effort to succeed, Likely to Fail. Have Failed.

"With e-currency based on cryptographic proof, without the need to trust a third party middleman, money can be secure and transactions effortless." -- Satoshi

I've been looking into the coins on cryptsy, so I'll be posting a rough guide as I learn about each one. I've started with the worst on their LTC market.. I'll update the list as I go along... Too many newbies think any alt is a good alt... Accepted means used as a currency by websites, one website put up by a developer does not count.

Thanks for this list.  Just a whole mess of alt-coins out there, many of which will keep going to the trash heap.

Thanks.. As I look at each one it's amazing how many were used for a quick buck.. and it follows a pattern.. usually the "developer" makes a new account just for the coin if it's a pump and dump..

I've managed to store away a few "Sexcoins".. It's worth less than american coins at the moment, but it has about a dozen sites that take it.. I think the price is so low because they aren't listed against BTC at cryptsy, but they are at coinex. Also it has a team behind it rather than one developer ... But... I'm getting nervous because the developers should be putting out a new client, and say they will soon, but it seems to be taking them way too long .. I would keep an eye out, and if they release a new client snap some up, love,  ..

Not recommending, Just trying to be impartial and giving some idea of where a coin is heading.. some of these are borderline though.. I've done the best I can .. The coins in orange could be successful if developed more, which might happen... The coins in brown seem to have been abandoned by the developer, but they might come back...  Generally dark green and green should be pretty safe bets... when I've gone through all the coins, I'll add a few explainations on the borderline ones..

Before purchasing any type of alternative cryptocurrency, be sure to do your research so you know exactly what you are buying. I don't necessarily agree with some of the assessments on this list, however it is still helpful to someone who is new and doesn't have a clue.

LMAO, I don't agree with some of the assesments either, I wouldn't touch Bitbar, Bitgem, Diamonds, Emerald, or any other currency that depends on being rare as making it worth something.

And its very hard to assess some coins.. what's wrong with redcoin ? it's stable and has a dev who is sticking with it and working hard, but the price and hashrate is hitting rock bottom.. It has a random block reward, so maybe that uncertainy puts people off....

Feel free to point out any errors or give your own assessments, it's nigh impossible to get good information on some of these coins, and sometimes it's difficult to determine whether it has a team, or just a developer that claims there is a team...

Netcoin is not a pump and dump sorry guys not sure why you think it is abandoned... Hmmm okay maybe I do, we are just not very active on Btctalk... Myself and my team are working very hard developing for Netcoin an just have so little time to keep track over here...

You can find out more about Netcoin here... http://cryptomunity.boards.net

We have many thing going... You can see some of it here too...

Info Site http://netcoin.org.uk/

We are accepted on coinpayments and we have 6-7 stores accepting us right now. Brownboxtech and Bitezze to name a couple.

On the forum there we have a bank and a stock market game, built right into the forum.

We even Have Netcoin Radio up and running.

Yes Netdude has taken more of a backseat due to time constraints but we are here working our behinds clean off for Netcoin. Infact we have recently started a Netcoin Foundation...

So please if you could review this information I would very much appreciate that. Thank you Smiley

Yes Netcoin is very active. We have over 400 members and get around 700 guest per day. The Netcoinfoundation is taking way and there is BIG changes in the making. NET is going long term.. No stopping it now.

The first coin in Cryptsy history to make 3 different markets BTC/LTC/XPM. Trades at Coins-e for BTC and Bter for LTC and is in the CNY market. So all in all NET has 4 markets to trade in. And looks like NET is doing fairly well here http://coinmarketcap.com/ It has 4 mining pools as well. For more info come visit or join at:

http://forum.netcoinfoundation.org

Thanks for your understanding and please update your information.
