The Supreme Court of Russia has ordered the St. Petersburg City Court to consider an appeal to the ban of a cryptocurrency information website, Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) reported April 20.

In summer 2016, the Vyborgsky District Court of St. Petersburg granted the application of the Prosecution Office and blocked Bitcoininfo.ru website. The court found that information on the website about digital currency Bitcoin, which represents a “virtual payment instrument and a store of value”, to violate the Federal Act “On the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (the Bank of Russia)”.

I've never heard about Bitcoininfo.ru before but after reading the article I visited the site. Idk maybe it's banned in Russia but it's working for me perfectly. There's not much to see there though. The overall design is bad and old looking, reminds of the sites created 20 years ago, a lot of scammy looking announcements in the forum and so on. But it's good that they are considering an appeal to the ban now. However bad it might look, the site should not be banned unless it scams people directly.

Last year I registered on this site, but I did not like it and I did not visit it anymore. There's about everything just like on this site, however on a small scale. By the way, 5000 Satosh are listed for registration in the profile, and if you are registered on this site, then every month you charge 60 000 - 80 000 Satoshi, depending on the rank on this site, but with activity of at least ten.
I did not even know that he was blocked, somehow stopped by, he worked. I understand that the Supreme Court of Russia overturned the decisions of lower courts and sent the case for new consideration. This is far from a victory, given what decisions of the courts regarding crypto currency are now being accepted in Russia.

It seems that it is working for basically everyone. I have tried to access that site from all possible Russian proxies, and they all opened the site without any problems, so people in Russia should be able to visit it.

It could be that the owner of the site just doesn't care to take that site offline, which for me seems to be a great and an encouraging gesture towards the authorities. I however wonder how long he will keep it up.

That being said, Russian authorities have never really been a champion in enforcing their own laws and policies. While they put so much effort in such an insignificant site, there are thousands of sites not being affected at all.
