Hello guys!

I'm going to start an bigger bitcoin farm, but meeting some issues.
When it comes to the cooling.. i'm far away from an cooling expert so some help would be very appreicated!

* Area 100 m^2 (got alot of more space total 900 m^2)
* About 900 miners at 1300w each (antminer T9)
* Ambient temp is 15c
* Wind direction is at west

So the question is how muh cooling is needed?

when calculating 250 cfm each miner that would be in total 225 000 cfm

My fans i'm looking at giving 63000 m3/h so thats 37080
around 6 of those fans.
Should i have 6 of those fans at intake air and 6 as outside air?
or would it be 6 in total?

Presuming you exhaust the hot air directly into the environment, you only need to be able to cool the intake air to keep it within specifications.

The T9s, like most Bitmain products, require cooling air < 40C (104F).  

How much cooling capacity you require is dependent upon your ambient air temperature (and to a lesser degree, its humidity).

Simply never allow your exhaust air to mix with your intake air.

If your trying to make a closed environment, then every watt used will need to have the associated watt of heat rejected outside via your cooling system.  That it not efficient or recommended.

Mined for a living since 2017.  Dabbled for years before that.
Linux admin since 0.96 kernel and Slackware distributions on (4) floppies...

Nice to se someone that knows what he are talking about..
as i'm kinda out of space when it comes to this stuff Wink

Anyway the ambient temp is 15c as i'm living in sweden = its kinda Cold here..
when it comes too humidityi realy not sure (neeed to check it out).
But the most importent thing, is what i should have in minimum as the farm will grow bigger within the time.

Hey there

Ideally what you want to do is create a wall down the middle of your miners. This way the hot exhaust is on one side. Here you will have exhaust fans taking that air from the space and moving it outside.

On the cold side/miner air intake you will have louvered and filtered openings that allow the fresh air into your space. This is the typical set up of mining farms.

I've never run a large facility so I'm not much help on the math for what size exhaust fans you need, but if you plan to expand you should go big then there will be less growing pains. With 15C intake air you will have an easy time making sure your farm is cool; so AC shouldn't be needed it's also a profit killer

Thank you nice to hear as this AC made me a little bit worried.. not just for being high on electricty it also cost money as result less mining machines.

Hello,
Can you post some general plan of the room that you are planning to use? Also important would be the number of miners you plan on using and also the main wind direction of your area related to your farm position.
 The main wind direction you can find by hanging a flag on the actual building.
With these informations, some of the forum guys can give you very good advice, and at those ambient temperatures that you have there, you might be verry succesfull with using natural air cooling for your room by only using some well-placed windows. Smiley

So for us idiots in the USA, that is about 2000 sq ft.  Lets assume a 40 ft by 50 ft building.  40' is enough for (5) 8' aisle - (2) cold with equipment, (3) hot for exhaust air only.  So we have both sides of the cold aisle with racks of equipment - so (4) rows total.  With doors into the hot aisle on the inside of the building, we are going to have room for, oh, 40' of equipment more or less (rather conveniently enabling construction of the racks out of 10' unistrut.  So, 160 ft of equipment rows.  Say 1 miner per foot... 900 miners = 5 (800 miners) or 6 rows (960 miners).  5 rows is tall enough that you can access each row without a step-stool.  6 rows would require one.  In any case, the space checks out as doable.

If you are going to build this Yahoo chicken-coop style to minimize the need for exhaust fans, your going to need about 1 square meter of vent space for every 10 miners (about 1 square foot per miner).  Any smaller and you will need added cost fans that use added cost power to run.  Lets presume your going to get clever and use the entire area of both ends and check that math:  960 miners = 960 sq ft.   Building is 40 feet wide, times 2 (for both ends) = 80 feet.  So the ventilation end-walls would need to be 12 feet high.  Doable.
