AION Mainnet Launch

Aion is all these 3 things:

1. Full fledged blockchain platform with its own virtual machine that can host its own Dapps, not just any Dapps, interoperable Dapps that can operate across multiple networks.

2. Router Network that interconnects blockchains or DAGs via the Aion Bridging Protocol that allows transfer of both value & logic between networks.

3. Hub & Spoke framework to infinitely scale networks by creating multiple custom spoke chains to route transactions & avoid bottlenecks on the main chain.


Aion's Competitive Advantages:

1. General Interoperability

Aion is developing a protocol and bridging system that will allow transfer of value and logic (if this then that) between blockchains, enabling interoperable Dapps. Other interoperability chains only seek to make interoperability possible between and among their own networks, or only transfer value.

2. The Team

Aion's team is second to none. Founder Matt Spoke is CEO of Nuco, whose clients include the government of Ontario and TMX Group. Before that, Matt headed up Deloitte's blockchain team. Matt is a founding board member of the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance and a founding steward of the Muskoka group with Don and Alex Tapscott and Joe Lubin. Aion's advisors include Ethereum co-founder Anthony Di Iorio and two TMX Group execs. Their growing team of 35+ has double-digit engineers, and Aion will soon have teams in Shanghai, Barbados, and Romania.

3. Partnerships

Aion's list of partners continues to grow. It includes Fortune 1000 companies (like Moog), leaders in finance (Deloitte), and even other blockchains (Icon, Wanchain, SONM, Metaverse, Enigma).

The more I read about POA, the less impressed I get.

POA is simply an Ethereum side chain that uses Proof of Authority consensus. Aion features a number of advancements from Ethereum, particularly the FastVM/AVM, spoke chain creation, custom scripting language, hybrid DPoS/PoI consensus model, and of course bridging between disparate blockchains that allows transfer of value AND logic.

POA uses 12 validators (https://github.com/poanetwork/wiki/wiki/What-is-POA) (17 registered (https://validators.poa.network)) which are all public notaries, so consensus is centralized and vulnerable to a number of exploits and attacks. POA's token bridge only uses 3 validators, and is subject to daily use limits due to attack vulnerabilities.

POA's token is an ERC677 (http://blockchainers.org/index.php/tag/erc-677), which is basically an ERC20 with a transferAndCall function added. This token standard was built specifically with backwards compatibility in mind (i.e. to be converted back into ERC20). POA's "token bridge" just converts from a barely-more-advanced version of an ERC20 back to an ERC20. The ERC677 and ERC20 tokens are so similar, they can be stored in the same wallet address.

Aion's coins feature an upgraded address system (https://blog.aion.network/aionaddresssecurity-ff4362196b24) for additional security. Moving between Aion's unique address convention to ERC20 and back presents a more complex challenge.

Importantly, as far as I can tell POA has no other interoperability functionality in development or even planned.

The Aion-1 blockchain acts as Router at the core of the Aion network. It has a Virtual Machine (AVM) which gives Aion 2 major advantages:

1. Instant Finality: The Aion-1 VM has parallel transaction processing to make sure Aion-1 doesn't become a bottleneck for performance while routing transactions between blockchains since they have different confirmation times.

2. Interoperable Dapps: The Aion-1 VM can host Dapps that read & trigger logic between different blockchains:
. IF THIS happens on blockchain A
. THEN THAT should happen on blockchain B

Wanchain transfers only value between chains as Wan is only focused on financial sector (loans, investments, ICO fund management, etc...) rather than interconnecting networks like AION

AION allows transfer of BOTH Value & Logic between dissimilar networks such as triggering Smart Contracts between blockchains, etc... i.e. :

1. IF THIS event happens on Blockchain A

2. THEN THAT event happen occur on Blockchain B

. Aion is also all these 3 things at the same time:

. Cosmos has neither at this point. Mainnet planned later this summer.

. Polkadot has a whitepaper, Mainnet not coming till late 2019.

Yes, we see a lot of positive news from the AION project recently. Unfortunately, the market does not react on them at all, the price of the coin is at the same level of about $ 4, and apparently the January highs of $ 10 we will not be able to see soon!

Aion cross-chain interoperability can achieve infinite scalability via spoke chains (Unlimited TPS)

Dapps can use multiple Aion spoke chains to run their portions that require high throughput, then simply signal the final results back to original chain (Ethereum or Aion-1).

You can use 1 Million spoke chains operated in parallel by same or different validators to produce a throughput of 100 Million TPS for example. (since each handles 100tps according to Testnet results)

There is no limit to how many Spoke chains you can use.

Aion is a good project but now has so many direct competitors in the Interoperability space which is going to make it difficult for me to make case for it. I think I would rather pick some projects with stronger community and team than Aion projects

There are 3 ways you can look at Aion's MC in light of TRS:

1. CMC's formula (MC = current circulating supply * price = 150MM * $2.50 = $375MM) - This calculation changes monthly because of changes in both price and circulating supply (due to TRS distributions). The dynamics of this method is frankly too complicated for some people to grasp, and folks fear what they don't understand. I think this fear keeps some buyers away. This MC figure is viewed by most as a gross undervaluation, but it's the commonly-accepted method.

2. Endgame calculation (MC = total supply * price = 466MM * $2.50 = $1.165B) - This is a much simpler way of calculating MC because it avoids the TRS complication of changing circulating supply and just uses total supply for the MC calculation. The problem with this method is that the total supply will not be in circulation until the end of 2020 and that the vast majority of tokens to be released will go to the founders, so this figure tends to be an overvaluation (although I'd argue that Aion is still undervalued even by this method, which would still put Aion outside the top 20).

3. Public TRS completion (MC = circulating supply after public TRS ends * price = 260MM * $2.50 = $650MM) - This might be an appropriate middle ground. On the one hand, it acknowledges that the current circulating supply changes too much between now and the end of the public TRS this November. At the same time, it considers that the remaining tokens will be distributed to the founders, which in turn will be distributed through the bounty and AionVentures programs, spent to cover operating expenses, with the remainder being held in reserves. Again, Aion is undervalued under this method of calculation.

Moog is a Fortune 1000 company with customers like the US Dept. Of Defense, NASA, Boeing, and Airbus. This past fall, they announced a partnership with Aion.

Moog is working on using blockchain for it's supply chain. Moog Exec Jim Regenor is deep into blockchain and a huge Aion cheerleader, saying:

“The blockchain landscape is like the railroad system of the 1850’s, when there were multiple switching networks. At some point there had to be a consolidation of gauges so that railroads could use each other’s tracks to reach more customers. That same phenomenon exists today in blockchain. There’s going to need to be a hub. For us, Aion is that hub. Aion will allow us to move data between the multiple blockchains that could be present in our supply chain. We think this is a very important step, and we’re glad to be participating in it.”

Consensus failed for coins, to price news like mainnet launch, new developments etc. teams should announce them when bitcoin is rising otherwise they are forgetten in this market.

Aion's token may have grown up on the ethereum blockchain, but it's moving out. Aion’s blockchain is an off chain solution for scaling an Ethereum token. I think this would be a good mid-long term investment. Yep, it failed me for the last 3 months, after the mainnet, after the consensus but still have faith in it.
