http://www.4chan.org/faq#donations

4chan used to accept donations but most online payment processors made it difficult. Bitcoin changes this considerably. Email the 4chan admin, Moot, here: moot@4chan.org Tell him that we want to donate to 4chan.org using Bitcoin. Once it gets around to the /b/tards and propagates through the meme epicenter that is 4chan, Bitcoin will have another fantastic rally.

We have our opportunity, let's act on it.

I don't think I want to donate to 4chan.

It's not that I wouldn't like it. I just don't know if I want to support it.

I second this notion.

It's just a bunch of weaboos, college kids and porn with the potential to rise Bitcoin to record heights. You want to support it.

I see the potential for getting younger people to use bitcoin because they are more susceptible to something such as bitcoin, as they do not typically have an established life yet with a "normal" job and means of income. But, 4chan is not a place to advertise or promote something like bitcoin, because 4chan isn't a place to promote anything, really. Except tentacle porn or something.

4chan is also a good area for general Bitcoin usage: it can be used for request bounties and for donations among anonymous posters.

The problem with trying to get 4chan users to use Bitcoin is that they typically have the attention span of a rodent, and would completely miss the point of Bitcoin.  I guarantee there would be nothing more than an influx of users all trying to make a quick buck, then leaving as soon as they realize that standalone mining is no longer profitable.

Now as for using BTC for donating to 4chan since the traditional pay operators won't accept them, that is a valid option.  It would only pull in those 4channers who were going to make a donation anyway, and would thus be more likely to think it through as a payment method rather than a get-rich-quick scheme.

I go to 4chan sometimes, does that immediately make me an idiot? I think you are mistaking chaotic behavior with stupid behavior.

If the objective is to raising the visibility and acceptance of Bitcoin this is a very good idea, regardless of whether one likes 4chan or not.
