https://cointelegraph.com/news/exclusive-myetherwallet-confirms-hacking-rumors-are-stupid-lie

The fact that MEW knew about a possible vulnerability on a DNS level since January (see the article above) and did nothing really makes you think...dev team could've avoided this whole mess  Undecided

I do not think that with the official MEW site, something happened, most likely a phishing site or another virus.
It wasn't a virus, it was a 'DNS Spoofing' attack as the first post says.

I’m not sure of it was hacked and not sure if it’s possible to get hacked but the issue is logging on a phishing site. Phishing site can be so annoying as a matter of fact, I just read up that someone lost over 85 ETH. Someone just need to be careful on checking on website

For Ethereum, this is one of the most feared things. Ethereum and I believe in its future. But your wallet should have a more reliable structure. In particular, I think that Myetherwallet should be able to offer optional security measures. Uses are requested, while those who do not want continue as classical. This ensures that there is no security vulnerability and it makes people feel safe. Sometimes the seemingly simple Ethereum purse can contain a very potent token. I saw many Ethereum wallets with such a potential. Obviously I do not already use My Ether Wallet, but almost all of the available solutions are not enough for security reasons.

Someone lost 85 ETH apparently, damn. This is bigger than I thought but really shows the importance of a hardware wallet.

Someone with 85 eth but he or she has not a hardware wallet, or does not care about the security, I don't like my ether wallet, it is so easy wallet so there is a cost like that.

Thanks for the news information warning, hopefully all people will be more careful on accessing myetherwallet, and this is the first time I heard myetherwallet being hacked, maybe some hackers now are entering on the line of myetherwallet. So let's us wait guys if there are some another complained about myetherwallets being hacked.
Yes, websites looking like mew and then using the real private keys to access wallets on the real mew accounts in one thing, but the hack.. I read the reddit discussion which says the dns spoofing was done by a couple of people from Russia and Ukraine. No surprise here, since people are getting good education and receiving terrible salaries, add to this the fact of money being a big value in the society regardless to how you earned it. It is said the dns-servers got hijacked, most of people know about checking that all the symbols are correct, but don't think that the redirection might go wrong.

I never use my wallet to check my balance. There are many other safe ways to do this. In most cases, the users themselves are to blame for the loss of funds. Be vigilant!

Yes this is true, it has happened earlier today and a lot has already reported also that they have lost
huge amounts of tokens and ethereum from their wallets because of the funds auto withdrawing to
another wallet that have already stolen more than a hundred thousand dollars worth of crypto. Be
careful guys, always stay safe.

BTW, they said mycrypto is safe to use right now.

Because of the DNS attack we should be careful now, or better not to open MEW until the problem is solved as the information can be passed to the hackers.
We know that most of our tokens are in MEW but we should keep it close for now or we may loose everything we have.

Nothing in this world is fully secured the hackers also keep updating them according to the new technology so you have to keep all the security measures on to increase your security. And best way to secure the more valuable funds into linking MEW with Ledger Nano S.
