Does anyone know what's behind the current altcoin price rally, particularly coins like NMC?

It's not a BTC-e only thing, YAC has more than doubled on minor exchanges. I think all alts got seriously hammered during BTC's rally, and now that BTC is somewhat flat all that new money is seeking big returns. There has been a lot of media validation for alts lately too, it's not just bitcoin's show anymore.

I see it as this, as Bitcoin takes off, the idea of crypto-currencies  in general takes off as well. I mean they all do the same thing. It wouldn't be the end of crypto if Bitcoin died. So as Bitcoin rises to new horizons, all altcoins get to appreciate in value to a certain extent Smiley
