But why, on MtGox, can't we do the opposite by buying fractional amounts less than 1.00?  Anything less than 1.00 on a buy order results in an error "please enter a valid number".

huh that sounds like a bug, have you reported this to mtgox itself?

Bitcoin Core developer [PGP] Warning: For most, coin loss is a larger risk than coin theft. A disk can die any time. Regularly back up your wallet through FileBackup Wallet to an external storage or the (encrypted!) cloud. Use a separate offline wallet for storing larger amounts.

Ok that's odd, now my UI is giving me that error on both buy and sell fields.  Nevermind, nothing to see here.

try 0.1 instead of .1

0.1 is the smallest i think.  0.09 won't work
