BFL; screwing over my father in law.

So in march my father in law got really excited about bitcoin and wanted to get into mining. He contacted BFL and several email exchanges where BFL told him he would have his miner in 3-5 weeks and they would set him up real nice. He order two 50gh miners and BFL never delivered. Now we can talk about Que's and such but the fact is BFL mislead him into purchasing the miners. Last month he asked BFL for a refund. They refused. So he went to the credit card, they also refused because BFL didn't sate anywhere in their terms when they would deliver the miner.

These guys are scumbags.. They have this useless miner they have had for the better part of a year to deliver to a guy they took advantage of. Has anyone been able to get a refund from these scam artists?

The 3-5 weeks part was a total lie from BFL, but that is how they sold so many preorders.

When did he make his purchase?  A 50GH miner ordered mid-April (2013) was delivered last week as is up and running.

If the order is in good standing, you could at least get your money back by selling the order.  You wont make a profit, or maybe a little one, but at least getting your money back would be worthwhile.

I believe BFL started orders in Oct or Nov of 2011,I'm close if I'm wrong.I think the delay was 3-4 months.

I ordered my BFL FPGA on March 16 2012 & got it May 16 2012.So my wait was actually not bad.

Thats what I based my ASIC purchase on.Boy was I in for a ride from hell

bitjet: If your FIL still has that email and he's in the US, he can go to small claims court.  Or he can go to a higher court like ionstorm did.  He can definitely forward the email exchange as a PDF file to ionstorm, and ionstorm can include it as evidence in his ongoing BFL lawsuit.  Not sure if your FIL can add his case to ionstorm's though, to save on time and fees.

Well bright side is that miner prices are holding up with the recent price boom. Seems like KNC is the cleanest shirt in the bag.
