Like any get-rich-quick scheme, bitcoin scams thrive on the gullibility of its victims. Just because it's a digital currency doesn't mean you can acquire wealth quickly.
Well I think we cant protect ourselves from scammers because they can do anything just to hack our account. They all know about the informations needed just to hack anyones account. We cant do anything but we can decrease the possibility of being hacked like we should be wise enough in entertaining a person we didnt know yet and we should think wisely before we do such action inorder for us not to regrets the action we made.

To protect your accounts and transactions to the scammers who just want to have money on the easy way is do not give you personal informations and do not believe on the fake advertisements you see in the internet.

The best way to protect is education and getting experience, so you will have knowledge and intuition to figure out the scam.

I think, people who trapped in scam will have best answer for this question and I'm one of them Grin! Actually, our security is in our hand, if you trust someone in this Crypto world then big lose is waiting for you. I just want to suggest you one thing, never ever share your personal data with someone and never trust on quick rich scheme, because these are the number one scammer's. You will get success with hardwork and hardwork always comes in long-term not in quick-terms.

Well, there are no ultimate rules, I think everyone should think with their own brain and try to avoid scams. But I can give a few examples which should already be self-explanatory. If you are being asked for your private key instead of your public key, do not give it to anyone. Unless it is a case where you for instance want to access your MEW account, where you need to put in your private key. But recently, users were phished, because they were not careful, so be on alert even for this. Then, avoid suspicious links and don't click on any suspicious files in your email. You can easily attract malware or keyloggers on your machine doing that (I suggest some anti-malware with combination of antivirus installed). Also, I notice a lot of scammers on Telegram channels. If you are an ICO investor or bounty hunter, do not respond to them, because no admin will ever contact you and ask you for your assets. But as I said, if the thing looks suspicious or too good to be true, it probably is.

To prevent scamming of coin we have to be clever in doing transactions because they can quickly determine the process. Everybody has differrent personality we don't know if its trusting so better to keep secured for our own sake.Protect our coin and update as always, transaction is too risky and confidential for the users.

Since digital currency is mainstream right now, we can't deny that there are a group of people who abuse it just to scam other people. The only way to protect ourselves from a scammer is to do a background research on the company or people that we are dealing with. We should be careful on the "too good to be true" offers because there is no shortcut to success.

Not even satoshi as the inventor of bitcoin and blockchain saying that bitcoin is a tool to gain wealth quickly, it's just the same ordinary currency but with additional advantage as for example, a tool to move wealth instantly to another people without any limitation or restriction, but using bitcoin means youre responsible of your own money, you need to take care your money by yourself and there's plenty ways to do this had already discussed here, one of them is using hardware wallet.

If you see a person or a group of people offering you a too good to be true, you know what does it means. Do some research before engaging in any investment platform because this might risky and you will loss lots of money from it. I have seen plenty of people scammed by an MLM ( multi-level marketing) scheme, wherein you need to invite people and encourage them to invest in their scheme. This is not how bitcoin or other digital currency works, BTC is not a scam, it is being used as a tool by abusive people to scam other people.

Scammers are coming up with new ideas every day. I personally think that greed is the cause for someone to fall for scam. Always be careful and think about any good deals you see before accepting it.

In any case, Bitcointalk is a good place to learn about scams. Members of this forum will post about their experience of being scammed and also new types of scams.

This you can watch in everything !!! Of course, when a newcomer arrives and does not want to read and study anything, he starts trustingly telling someone what to say, the result will be that the scammers will do their thing, it's not only here

As for me, I believe that scammers are just around us and they're just waitibg for their next victim so we must get rid of them by securing our private keys and by monitoring our earnings. Also, we must avoid having any contact or conversation with suspicious people.

What I've learned from the Balina's wallets hack is that you shouldn't store your keys in a cloud. Though it's very convenient that you can access your wallets from anywhere from any device, but the risk is too high. Also it's important to use 2AF both for the main and reserve mailboxes and use the most possible complex passwords.

Do not believe anyone/anything that promising something looks too good to be true. That's how you can avoid scammers. Be aware of phishing sites and unofficial accounts. Always give a second look before clicking any links. Never share secret information with anyone.

As mentioned above, the best thing you can do is to understand what you are doing. In addition, you always need to see what is written on this forum about new ways of hacking, in the pinned topic.
Also I do:
For the account on the forum - a separate email address.
For bounty - a separate email address.
Do not open a email with an unknown email address.
Do not click on the links in the email, twitter, fb... without research.
Use only a separate computer for crypto.
Do not talk about the crypto income in real life.
Visit only trusted resources and always control it.

There are precautions for save, transactions, exchanging fiat-crypto, crypto-fiat. But this is another big theme.

It is difficult to avoid the scammers in this cryptocurrency world. Usually what I do is search for information first before doing anything in the world of crypto currency. Or can do research by monitoring the progress of any ICO or project that I follow.
