Increasing default GPU/CPU mhash/s with ACIS?

I just started mining and simply was curious if you can add an ACIS, say a USB to my mining. I wanted to gain some experience in mining and the slow hash rate I am mining lurks me to increase the efficiency. If I were to add the ACIS USB to my computer on top of the CPU/GPU that are already mining will this configure and add to my default or is the process separate or more complex?
