I love the looks i get when i try to explain crypto to a non tech person! How do you guys deal with situations like these?

I could explain all the technology to my parents with simple words using comparisons that they understand. Yes, this is the tip of the iceberg, but why should they know more, especially if they are not going to invest? It seems to me that most people do not need to know aerodynamics and physics to fly on a plane, the same with cryptocurrencies - most people will simply use them and not delve into technology - the main thing is that it's convenient!

When explaining crypto to a non tech savvy person, I don’t need to use any big grammar. Already the world is aware that this is technology age and as such everything is being done using technology. I remember the first time I paid my office rent via mobile cash transfer, my landlord was so overwhelmed about the technology involved in both of us just sitting down together and the next thing is that money showed up in his account without queue at the bank. I simply told him this is to boycott the risk of carrying large money around and wasting time at the bank. Same applies here. Crypto is like a universal currency all of us can use without bound or restriction. It is digital, not in control by central bank etc.

I must say it's somehow frustrating to explain crypto to a non tech person especially person's who have not shown interest. They see you as being weird. Unless it's someone who has shown interest and is ready to learn then it'll be easier.
Forget about those people, many people say this is a generation that understands technology better than previous generations and that is completely false, they may use technology since they are very little but many of them do not care about how the technology works, they just care that it works and nothing more, so explaining bitcoin to people like that is just a waste of time.

It is not difficult to explain what cryptocurrency is and how it works. It is much more difficult to explain to people what will happen to cryptocurrencies and why it is not a financial pyramid.

It's always very nervous dialoge. Mostly all people think that cryptocurrencies are scam and these 'electronic money' is just a mistake and soon they will disappear. It's better to talk with a mirror or a wall.

I explained this to them simply by describing crypto by buying and selling gold. I feel they are quite familiar with the way my explanation is like this.

When introducing crypto to a non tech person I do not explain the technical details, rather the benefits of the cryptocurrencies
that the transfers are cheap, fast, not controlled by a central authority etc.

This is difficult to do, because even the majority of people who are currently acquiring Bitcoin do not understand how it works and why they acquire it. This is a fact that I think will lead us to great trouble.

I actually don't really explain bitcoin to people, just don't know why. But many people assumed bit coin is an internet fraud, so they see you as someone who does bad job. Some want to make the money out of it and are such lazy that they cannot take time to make post. They want to start from a high rank not considering how long I have been working it.

Say that the major crypto currencies are made for the third party free payment methods and that if you want to send your money, you will just need to pay a small fee and do it whatever and whenever you want without any third party.

Like some users have already stated, crypto itself is an easy job to explain. You tell them what it is and what it does. You could say them something like it's "e-money" that makes possible large sum transfers with very low costs and high speed between its users.

Now when it comes to explaining what blockchain is it's a bit different thing that is a little harder task Grin. I have tried to explain and show videos/articles of it, but when one has no or little to none interest in it, their mind will not try to comprehend it.

I think it would be best to compare cryptocurrency with Fiat money. To explain that they can be used as well, just crypto does not have a material form.

You can compare bitcoin with gold. It is like gold has a limited amount. Crypto like gold is impossible to forge. It as well as gold can be bought, or to extract most.

I think that most people on this forum are also not programmers, so explain in ordinary language what cryptocurrency is and what they need is not difficult for others, the problem is that others perceive the word "cryptocurrency" as a label.

When I explain to a person what a blockchain is, I say that this is a way of storing data, such a formulation gives him a correct understanding, but the principle of work is not always possible to be explained quickly.
