Hi

I have a lot of money locked in mtgox and they have stopped replying to support emails
Really need advice on mtgox locked account

I had dollars and bitcoins in the account. I did not withdraw before or give ID.

I wanted to send a friend in Asia I owed some $ so I sent $1k to their bank account from my mtgox account.
When I tried to send more I was asked for their ID.

I was not able to get a utility bill for them so I told mtgox its my account and they asked me to post my documents to Japan.
I did this and was told the account belongs to my asian friend and I have to send their documents.

I got my friend to get a internet bill in their name at their current address.
i told mtgox the address would be different and they said ok, send documents to japan

I sent the documents and mtgox said need to get notarised and signed, so my friend got a lawyer to do this.

The documents were sent again and mtgox said the address in incorrect. They said

The address provided is not matching.
This account is now locked for :
 - Several transgression of Mt.Gox ToS
 - No compliance to AML Policies after at least 3 attempts within 90 days.
Your case will be reported to competent authorities.

I realise I was an idiot to use friends name.

What should I do to try and get the money back? I dont mind if it goes to me or friend.
Who are competent authorities?

Should I send letter? contact a lawyer?

If you have used your account to send money to your friend's bank account, you are in violation of their TOS.
Try contacting them on support again and again. If the funds involved are of good amount than take a flight to Japan and visit them in office.

Thanks for reply

They see it as my friend is the owner of the account.

It was not the fact I broke ToS by sending to friend. It was because I failed verification too many times.

The last time I failed because of different address. I informed them of the change in address and they said it's ok in email.
The time before it was because the documents were not notarized properly.
They have copies of passport and ID card. The ID card has the first address on it.

Has anyone ever got results by going to their office?
