I am seeing alot of these 50$ DigitalOcean coupons for a very cheap price (1.5$ - 5$), which doesn't really make any sense to me.

I've tried asking a vendor if these are actually legit, but haven't really received an answer yet. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2519456.msg35746596#msg35746596

Has anyone ever bought these, and if so, what were the requirements for activating them on DigitalOcean? Is this actually allowed by DigitalOcean or are these sellers abusing some sort of giveaway code?

I'm tempted to buy a couple of these, but not if they're breaking DO's TOS/abusing something.

(Is this the right section for a thread like this? If not, please suggest where to move it to.)

they are legit codes, but they only work for new accounts

So you can only use them once ( 1 per (new) account) or multiple times?

-- Do you need to add some form of funds yourself before you are able to use the credit or not?

You can use only once per account and it's should be new I think. No need to add any funds before using it. You can start using right away. But as per there billing profile, you have to add a payment method and it won't get used until the credit get over.
