I seem to be getting some success (in terms of keeping new blocks coming) by constantly trashing unconnected nodes.

Presumably it shouldn't take much for the software to do the same thing automatically (not sure why it isn't doing that already).

With CIYAM anyone can create 100% generated C++ web applications in literally minutes.

Oh ok, so no difference between an announced public IP and unannounced?

There IS a difference. Data from nodes behind NAT can't be PULLED. As u said they help by rebroadcasting data to other nodes.

Right. So spending $5-10/month on a VPS is N times better in helping the network. I am not trying to get more work for myself here, I've more than enough already, but I like the NXT idea, and want the NXT users to know what they can and should do to make it happen.

not sure why it isn't doing that already.

I don't use some tricks coz this attack is just a breeze before the storm, which we'll see when Nxt catches Bitcoin. Let's use this situation to tune some parts of networking.

So could you send very very small amounts of NXT and still be viable because you don't have to pay any fees? With BTC, you cant do this because in microtransactions the fee is bigger than the small amount you are sending.

Yes, a complete quide would be good. (on wiki, or new topic)
A few VPS recommendation. Min. requirement for public node.
How to announce public node. Etc.

The information is out there, but a step by step, detailed guide would be nice, and helpful to get more people to participate.
This is a subject important enough to get a separate thread.
