Why doesn't the bitcoin software suffer these kinds of DDOS attacks? Can anything be learned from the bitcoin software?
The concept of using machine learning (ANN) to avoid DDOS sounds crazy to me.

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

Can no longer log in to my wallet. It just hangs after clicking unlock....
The first step to take when similar issues happen is to re-install NXT from scratch and re-sync the blockchain. |

Come-from-beyond, what do you think is best? Completely remove hallmarks or make all users use a hallmark?
Can zombie nodes use hallmarks?

so, when hallmarking my VPSs, is it necessary to unlock with any account? if so, does it matter what account it is? Id prefer to only use my passphrase on my PC here that I know is secure.
EDIT: and are our VPSs supposed to just be on 0.4.0 still?

You can hallmark it with an account and not unlock that account. |

You're probably downloading the blockchain. You can try closing and reopening your browser. Thanks, that fixed it. Anyone want to buy my 500 NXT? I need whatever BTC I can get and fellow just seems to have scammed me out of my Quark.. If so, PM. |

The idea of using a neural net to identify attacking nodes is an interesting idea. You would need to use the behavior of a typical node to train the neural net. By continually monitoring certain node behaviors, you could retrain the network in real time. Therefore, the neural net would be adaptive to prevailing network conditions. |

Completely remove hallmarks may be practical. Those nodes with hallmarks can be removed in a short time, but it is difficult for those nodes without hallmarks to add hallmark by general users. |

Bitcoin network is just 1000-fold larger and require 1000 more money to DDoS it. The concept of using machine learning (ANN) to avoid DDOS sounds crazy to me.

I think the best is to mark nodes and let peers to decide if they prioritize hallmarked nodes. |

Nothing will happen. Rejected legit node will just connect to other peer. |

- it is useles unless you manadge to find a way for Hallmarket nodes to prevent communication with non-Hallmarket nodes. |
