I have a hard time believing that anything makes you overly excited.  Wink

Believe me - if I get overly excited by Nxt then I think all of you would have already become very rich.

Grin

Well, let's work on that!  Anyway, are cross chain transactions even possible?  I would think that this could be solved on the client level, if someone were to develop a client that implements multiple coins (BTC, LTC, Nxt), loading BTC, LTC, Nxt blockchains into client (I know that would take some time), then you could trade BTC/Nxt within client and confirmations could happen within client.  Doesn't seem like that would be very difficult.
It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

It's a good opportunity to test Nxt Improvement Proposal workflow.

Agreed - would you mind to be the first to have a go at this (I don't feel I know the code well enough to do this myself)?

I can code this after the community approves the NIP. The most interesting part is to see how the approval will be handled.

Screenshoots?

Please just post links rather than screenshots - it makes my head dizzy with the web page jumping up and down all the time (oh - now my post looks bad after reading the one above).  Cry

Anyway, are cross chain transactions even possible?

As far as I know they are (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Atomic_cross-chain_trading), however, the problem of "malleable" transactions that has recently come to light might screw this up as far as the refund txs go (that needs to be researched).

Also although theoretically the information about doing this looks fine I've yet to find an example of anyone "actually having done it" which means that it is at best an "unproven idea".

If you are involved in testing the decentralized asset exchange than come over to this thread. It'll help to keep things more organized i think. I know i have lots of questions and i don't want to flood this thread with them. Im sure others are in a similar situation.

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

3rd party could add a number equal to Curve25519 group order to create a valid transaction with another id. That's how DoctorEvil hacked Nxt to replay a transaction.

Also the legit owner of a transaction could generate zillions of valid signatures for the same set of data.

Aha - my math lets me down unfortunately but I do get your point.

So is there any way you think that this could be solved?

Easily. We just need ID_2 that is calculated like ID but with signature bytes set back to zeros.

The hash of the transaction already serves as ID_2 as far as I remember.

The problem is whether a different hash can apply to essentially "the same" tx (apparently at the moment - it can).

+1 don't know anyone who would be against that, unless there is a downside that you haven't yet shared?

The point is to develop a workflow for a NIP approval.
