I just made a statistic about nxt balance distribution.
the current percentage of top100/top500/top1000/top2000 acounts are 82.7%、96.6%、98.9%、99.7%, respectivey,
the variation curves is as follow:

there're about 22k nxt accounts for the time being, among these accounts, there're 15k  whose balance are more than 0.
among the 15k accounts, more than 60 percent have less than 10 balance:

current Gini coefficient of nxt system of top100/500/1000/2000/6000/15000 are 0.5、0.79、0.86、0.92、0.97、0.988 respectively:

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Thanks JL!

Added startForging and stopForging API requests.
Parameters: secretPhrase, required for both starting and stopping.

While you are at it, can we have "isForging":0/1 returned with getAccount?

+1

I have been asking since December! Cheesy
No, I will not. If I run a public node I may want to allow API requests to it, yet I don't want people to be able to tell which accounts are forging on that node. To start or stop forging requires the secretPhrase, similarly obtaining information about forging status should also require it.

Although I agree with James that for some kinds of "assets" it makes sense to be able to effectively "add more quantity" but it does not make sense for things that are "shares" and in fact it would be very dangerous to allow that as your shares could just suddenly become worthlessly diluted by the issuer.

Perhaps for your cases James just issue 1 Billion in the first place and put up "asks" only for those that you have "stock" for at any current time.

What? Issuing new shares is a very common thing

Agreed. But don't you think we need to differentiate between fixed/dynamic assets?

There's no point, as all assets are issued and backed by some entity (human or a company). You either trust the issuing entity or you don't.

Or you issue 1 billion units of the asset which is the maximum allowed in AE.  If the max number of units have already been issued then the issuer cannot increase the number of units further.

Static (like shares) and dynamic (supply-inflation, some product, for example) assets looks good. And in future there could be handruled dynamic assets (prodeced some new with unpredictable speed or vely low speed and corrected quanity by hand) or functional dynamic assets (for almost independent precalculated machine or digital producing).

And for each case risk of bankrupt/fraudulence of issuer.

The installer for Nxt 0.7.3 is now available.

This version of the installer now verifies the SHA-256 of nxt-client-0.x.x.zip after it downloads it but before it is extracted. If it fails, setup is forced to exit.
