We need something that will make NXT relevant, a flagship application that people aged 16-24 (the ideal target audience of a crypto-currency business, or at least mine) can't resist.

I'm working on that right now. Digital Goods Store that could be used to sell pornopics.

Yeah porno pics sound great. But there are still more than enough pics for free so why would someone buy those?
Young people are all about communication and "likes". I'm sure that if there was a simple like = 1 nxt button a lot of people would press it. This way e.g. those awful freemium games generate this amount of money. But again 1 nxt is way too much money. I think the reason all those doge campaigns were successful is because anybody is willing to spend 0.0001 € to support something funny. I think this kind of micro donation using cryptos will be successful in the future. The question is which currency is able to provide a simple wallet and an easy way to spend those micro donations. If there already are such bitcoin solutions please tell me about that

So the price dropped. I am sure people asked this before. I want to ask in a neutral and friendly way: Was there any fact or rumour based reason for the price drop?

Thanks in advance.

Every altcoin is dropping (exept Litecoin).

The last weeks were really turbulent for Bitcoin, so people don't take risk and hold their bitcoin. They don't buy altcoin

The reason Dogecoin gained such a large market cap in a such a short period of time is public interest. How do we garner public interest in a relatively obscure crypto-currency?

I think we need, in addition to wesleyH's client, a drop dead simple online wallet for new users to get started. Let's not forget that the average IQ of the world's populace is about 100... I remember how many problems techies had with the client in early december, that type of frustration is enough to turn most people off. I can just copy over a bitcoin wallet website I made a while ago and throw in NXT API calls. Shouldn't be too much of a problem.

DOGE was a meme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meme). NXT will *never* be a meme and you should be grateful for that because MEME's come and go faster than new altcoins.
We must abandon all delusions and ideas about making NXT some sort of "get rich quick" scheme. NXT is a true 2.0 and we should start acting and advertising like it.

We must get involved users, people who have a reason to use NXT. Who are they?

One of the main groups are libertarians who hate anything regulated and especially fees and centralization of power and money.
We should work on a "ad-campaign" directed at this audience.

Another group is pokerplayers / gamblers. Due to restrictions in *many* countries they cannot deposit fiat into poker accounts, so the more gambling sites that accept NXT, the better.

Greyzone-markets like silkroad covered (please don't get upset QBTC). I'm not saying anything about promoting illegal activities, but there are a lot of countries where certain plants are legal and many countries where steroids, peptides etc. is legal. These people today rely on mainly paypal/westernunion which is obviously not the best when you want to remain as anonymous as possible. If this market suddenly gained interest for NXT the price would skyrocket.

Gamers. For many reasons. Prize money in tournaments/showmatches. Buying things through games etc. Gamers are a HUGE market and we should get friendly with them!

Techies, remittance etc.

So what makes headlines? What made bitcoins headlines? Silkroad, the fact that someone could buy something very real (house, car, pizza) with something the majority of the world considered "fictional".
We must do similar "stunts". We need headlines.

After your manipulative smeartactics i decided fuck it.
It had over 7000 viewers, more than all your articles combined and it cost 25K NXT + some thousand from my own pocket.

You clearly don't understand marketing. You are good at being active, writing articles and contacting people.
But not ENGAGE people.

Also I don't get why you think I don't like tipping on reddit. I have nothing against it, but I am saying that tipping was not what made DOGE popular.
It was a meme, infact it was several memes tied together. Yoda on crack grammar became a meme. The dog was already a meme. The name, how you pronounced it.
DOGE was a perfect marketing stunt in every way and it was launched perfectly to match the height of Bitcoins popularity.

I don't see why the community is so "stumped" on marketing. It's a very explored and researched field of science, perhaps one of the most studied in business and social science.

You are a fucking stupid idiotic retarded moron and thief.

me emule Cheesy

welcome on my ignore list, congratz you are in company of emule there.

wow, quite a reaction there, must have really hit a nerve, and now you are calling him a thief, just like emule has, after admitting to dumping, after emule has

Well, I would be angry if someone accused me of being emule, although I wouldn't use that language.  Not sure why Pin is being attacked here, did I miss something?

not sure you get how pin was 'attacked', it was just a few musings and coincindences.  what he did certainly was attacking though.

It is not nice to mention psychic disease in a "joke". Diseases are not any subject of jokes.

Well salsacz accused Pinarello of being the biggest troll on this forum based on nothing but him not praising NXT. That's pretty much as close to North Korean thinking as you'll get.
I think Pin is 100% entitled to call him a fucking retard for that.

As for political correctness of "joking" about mental illness, well we joke about everything and anyone can be offended by anything.
If you call some stupid, that is also referring to someone who was born with a lower than average IQ (not their fault).
So unless you want to censor everything there is no reason to discriminate against the word "retard". *Everyone* knows he isn't insulting people with mental handicaps.

@ Passion_LTC.Thanks for the help, bro. All sorted now.

Moving on to my usual summary and thoughts on the last 30 pages or so (while ignoring the whole Pin/emule/salsacz thing):

Good summary:
All this hand wringing the last few days has been because one or two big stakeholders have sold some of their stockpile. Maybe they wanted to buy a car or something, who knows? The progress of Nxt has been excellent. Wesleyh client is awesome. Asset exchange being tested and will be functional within weeks, Transparent forging and big increase in TPM capability coming in April. Adam B. Levine says Nxt looks like the future Bitcoin and he's very excited about it. Tons of other good news. Don't let the price or the trolls get you down!
+lots
BTW; any one else notice that there seem to be a lot of new guys/girls/things posting here ? Another good sign....

More work for me, thanks,  bidji29:
I think after the April 4th, NxtFunds should be the leading force in this community.

I propose to the 3 Funds to make an annoucement after that date. Each on a separate day to spread the info load.
Since the 3rd part of the plan is released the 4th, i think a week is needed to organise if needed . So something like 10th, 11th and 12th April.

April 10th : TechDevfunds Announcement
April 11th : InfrastructureFunds Announcement
April 12th : MarketingFunds Announcement

In this annoucement, they do a clear roadmap for this year. Not just some fuzzy goal, but clear one. What direction and goal, How the money will be used,  How much exactly for each goal, etc..

I don't think devunds should just be passive, like just rewarding someone when he do some good work, or announce a bounty for a potential project.
They should be active. It mean search for people to work on NXT, make Job offer, going out of the way to find the most efficient to spend the funds, etc...
I sort of like the idea of a roadmap, but it shouldn't come directly from the committees.
Stop looking for leadership. Really, it's the human love of being bossed around by assholes that causes most of the trouble in the world.
If u want a road map, create one yourself and then throw it open to the rest of the community to debate it.
I'll be happy to help, but not as a leader.  No gods, no kings.....

Which brings me to:
Excellent news , thanks CfB! Are you being paid for the extra work?

No, but I have some NXTs, so I'm a little interested in success of Nxt. Smiley

Good point!! Are there any people working on NXT who don't have a big enough stake to stay motivated? If there are we need to help them get a big stake. Maybe give them an option to buy in at a fixed price down the track.

Just give me all the NXT. I am feeling a little bit unmotivated today.....

Talking about motivation....good decision, CfB.
I thought CfB and CIYAM are working on TF to make it 100% deployed, aren't they?

I am not working on TF at all - but I do think that CfB is going to proceed with it as originally planned.

Aye, I became tired of all these useless discussions (what and how to do) and going to stick to the initial plan. I'll quit a little bit later (not on the 3rd of April), coz I can't complete all planned tasks by that date.

Damelon has almost got a woocommerce module ready to go, when its released, let's start getting NXT in use as a 1st gen currency, for example:
A NXT paywall?

Offside the great technical stuff which is developed right now we have to consider, which features NXT should have for the Joe Doe, thereby he will pay with our currency in the internet.

I thought alot about at which places micropayment is used until now. There is flattr.com, for example. I have no idea how succesful it is but there is at minimum one point to critizise: It is not anonymous at all! The flattr-company knows who is paying/donating the money because you have to register with your adress, etc.

Then I remembered a topic, that at least was discussed by a great public in germany: Content at the internet is not free & the "mass mortality" of printmedia. In a row this discussion caused the development of paywalls.  Some small and some big newspaper (resp. their online-branch) implented paywalls between the user and their content.

So, in this field micropayments in the internet shall accepted by a great group of normal people.

Should'nt we focus on these paywalls and

1) try to convince the providers to implent NXT as one of the various ways to load your paywall-account?

2) try to provide our own NXT-driven paywall-client FOR FREE for all the smaller websites and businesses? If we compete with the big paywall-providers by offering the service completly free (except the transaction fee, of cause) I personally think some smaller businesses will use the service and they'll promote automatically NXT to a wider public.
And I also suggest that we look at major online games as potential NXT clients. Perfect fit for our current market demographic, and will get NXT on the log-in screens of millions of gamers. EVE online, World of Tanks.....pay & play with NXT!

Ok, thats more than enough for now.

Could suit next not because it is a meme but because transactions are cheaper with nxt than with bitcoin (if you substract bitcoin's value increase due to demand increase covering its shareholder dilusion through paying miners with new coins). Or am I wrong in that?

Will we be given some kind of heads up regarding when the asset exchange is opening?  It'd be nice to let everyone know so we all can plan to be sitting at the computer and try to reserve our favor assets instead of these assets being taken lottery like based upon the first people to realize it's been released.  It'd probably also distribute them a little bit more fairly between people trying to pick off the good names.  Because I can think of a couple asset names that everyone would love to own.
