Hello Guyz. I am a newbie. Please excuse me for my questions.
My friend has sent me Tether to my tether wallet. We both use binance. We have waited for nearly 24 hours.
After checking it, I realized that the wallet address of mine was different that I sent that day. I haven't changed it. I didn't do anything specific.
I first think that "did I send wrong address?". I have checked that 3 times before sending my address to my friend. If it was one of other wallets like btc or eth, the transaction can not be confirmed right? Yet, it was confirmed. Am I hacked or what? I can not think of any other explanation. Here is the info;
Sender Wallet: 1FG8SgYMnKiFBJbYHS9W5hkMzq6GnwhrjA
Receiver Previous Wallet: 1HKbxdAsqeZ2S5vADvz9N7Ee3hcVTQKVGK
Receiver New Wallet: 1HKbgqVN5dBk5HAmR5YAvYk8xxm8kgsr8K
TXid: 5c7c9ccfddb4da7b6a99e40b85566dd3a58fcadec8a0ef27c6861f2544c4872a
Do you guys have any idea what has happened here?
Did you get that amount in your wallet?
Yes it happens with other wallets like Coinbase and Blockchain as well.
it is a privacy-centered method for address generation and management. Each public address your wallet generates stems from your wallet's xPub (or Extended Public Key). Once your public address receives an incoming payment, a new address will automatically be generated.
If you use the same address each time you receive funds, it becomes easy for anyone to track your entire payment history. This method of address generation improves privacy by automatically presenting you with a new address when you’re expecting payment.
In fact that previous address will be always attached to your same wallet.
