I am new to the mining, I have ordered the S9 from Bitmain, but am now waiting for 2 months to get it.

In the meantime, I am trying to purchase an S7. Are there suggestions of a where I could get one? Then how can I ensure that a used Antminer will meet the advertised specs the seller is posting?

Thanks.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

If you are already going with the S9, no point to buy the S7 in my opinion.

There are only used secondhand S7 units available for example in this forum marketplace and Ebay.

Agreed, but want to get an S7 and get the hang of things prior to getting the S9. Also, still trying to figure out how I can check to ensure the Antminer is doing what I anticipate it to? Meeting the Th/s spec'd, power consumption, etc..

Screenshot and escrow. Tell the escrower to release the funds only when you receive the miner and when you confirm everything is working. A screenshot or pic of the status page with the name of the forum user next to it is about the best picture proof you can get. You can also ask for the seller to mine on a pool of your choice for a bit to see if it works well if the seller agrees with it. Pretty much as long as you have a reputable escrower you cannot go wrong.

I escrow  Have done many.

I give buyer 24 hours to test gear they reject or okay it.

+- 10% on specs

so if seller said it does 4.5 th   using 1200 watts  and it does 4.05th  or less you could reject it.

Ship it back on your dime and get a refund.

MAY not seem  good enough protection  for you.  but  the gear is at least  May 2016  or older.  Last batch was shipped may of 2016.

Psu's pools and internet can mean 10%  difference in hash rate.

There is no point in buying s7 if you have s9 mining product. If you're looking to buy for collectables I understand, otherwise it is not worth as long as its hashpower is weak for the actual mining difficulty. And maybe you'll be disapointed if you buy from Bitmain, because the delivering delay is killing us! Imagine if you have to wait more than 3 months to receive your products?
