Can someone explain (or point me to a page that explains for the non-programmers) what trustless mixing is? My understanding of the mixing services of Fedora is that it is not trustless, i.e., people who run nodes that do the mixing can potentially have access to the transaction trails of any incoming-outgoing coins. They are, therefore, a location of potential compromise. How can we know that only "the good guys" will be hosting mixing nodes?

The mixing services that Zerocoin and others have been working on do not have such a point of access. Even those running mixing nodes would not be able to trace transactions.

I do not know whether artos's proposed mixing service is trustless or not.

Can someone with more knowledge please respond to these hypotheses?

Hey StableCoin thread, looking for a place to mine SBC? Join us at Chunky Pool!

Here's a little more info:

  • 0% fees forever, not just "for now"
  • SSL encryption
  • Custom MPOS layout
  • Support and a wonderful community @ irc.freenode.net #chunky
  • We are equipped to withstand thousands of workers
  • Excellent stability and uptime

We also provide many other coin pools and even have a coin-switching multi-port that switches between coins to maximize profitability!

One account fits all
We have modified MPOS to provide a multipool experience. You only have to create one account, and that account is shared among all of our coin instances. Unlike some other multipools, and since we're on top of MPOS, we offer you complete transparency about provided shares, found blocks and much more!

Pools
  • Dogecoin - port 3333
  • Earthcoin - port 3334
  • RonPaulCoin - port 3335
  • Lottocoin - port 3336
  • Stablecoin - port 3337
  • 42coin - port 3338
  • Digibyte - port 3339
  • Litecoin - port 3340
  • Klondikecoin - port 3341
  • Leafcoin - port 3342
  • Potcoin - port 4200
  • Multiport - port 6666

And perhaps the biggest reason of all: we are miners just like you. We started this pool because we were sick of trying to find pools that didn't go down all the time. We are committed to making a better mining environment for you and for ourselves.

I'd like to point out that if Artos doesn't return, we have developers who have already volunteered to step up and further development of the coin.

Recently? Invisibel said that he would put in his (TIPS) version of the mixing service if Artos doesn't return.  I also know that before that there were other people chiming in as well.

I don't know, maybe I'll be the guy turning out the lights, but I haven't completely given up on artos, yet.  I'll only note that, for all the hoopla and crowing, the TIPS mixing service remains not ready for prime-time.  It appears that in execution, the principle is not as simple as in theory.

Artos seemed quite confident that it was a relatively simple thing to do, yet here we are still awaiting word of a beta, and invisibel's system is still on IRC and they still appear to be stumbling around in the dark on that forum thread.

I see no reason to sell out now, and if the price drops more, I may pick up a few k more.  Even if TIPS works out, I'm not convinced that an SBC with a mixing service won't remain viable.

Well Catswold, I'm with you.  I still think something will come of it as well.  Also, the community is as important for a coin to succeed as the developer is.

Guys/gals... thinking about shutting down the block explorer @ sbc.blockexplorer.io.

I'm not alone in thinking @artos has singlehandedly birthed and doomed this coin. The best hope for this coin is also its worst enemy.

Having mined LTC and a select few other 'alt coins' for years, I had high hopes for this coin -- even following the inexplicable disappearance and return of @artos from God knows where...

The market value of the coin has dropped many fold and the perceived value has hit rock bottom. Many of us stuck with the coin through the hard times due to the announcement of a ground-breaking privacy angle (mixing service) that would help set the coin apart from the sea of virtual copy-coins.

I've given up hope. Where is @artos? Where is the plan? Where is the mixing service? I guess it doesn't matter because "we've" been beaten to the punch.

I haven't given up either. I believe in what I see.

Artos is still occasionally checking in. He doesn't respond, but he told us he would be unable to respond, and that he was specifically only working on the coin.

If he can't work on it anymore, he'll call for another dev team. He invited us to compete with him, in fact.

I believe R-T-B is also working on StableCoin mixing service.
