... when Bitcoins are used by at least 10 million people, are at a supply of 10 million, and represent an economy of 10 billion? 1BTC = $1000 USD?    The gold price should be over $5000 if they werent suppressing it  |

So why aren't you spending all your money on bitcoins then? And why is the market rate not 1000 USD / BTC? They might well be worth that much or more some day but there is also the risk of them becoming worthless through bubbles or not catching on. |

They might well be worth that much or more some day but there is also the risk of them becoming worthless through bubbles or not catching on. Such is the problem of the entrepreneur, forever balancing fear and greed. The early-adopters of any technology are due to make out well if that technology is accepted in the marketplace. The amount of resolution built into Bitcoin will make it a much more liquid market than a physical commodity with similar valuations due to a limit on fungibility. But, in order for anyone to make out like a bandit, as the thread implies, the market for Bitcoins needs to improve dramatically. Ta, |

People usually disagrees with me whenever I mention it, but the phrase "make out like a bandit" sure comes across as "kiss like a bandit".  It sounds a lot better as "make off like a bandit". Am I right or am I right? |

At the risk of getting this thread way off topic, I have to agree with NewLibertyStandard. I'm not a native English speaker, and while I do have a lot of exposure to English on my everyday's work, some terms, such as the one in the thread topic, get me thinking: "Hmmm, I wonder how it is that bandits make out."
I don't like these thoughts, mind you, so I'll just distract myself by typing './bitcoind getinfo' on the console over and over again, and wonder in vain when is it that the pesky number of bitcoins will decide to change!

"Make out" meant get away long before the sexual connotation.
Make your way out = get away.
The actual expression is _made_ out like a bandit. It makes better sense in past tense.

But, at the moment, it does feel good to see it over $1000. Gox right now is at $1200...
People called Bitcoin lots of things, now they should sit up and take notice.
New article at CNN.com money, says it can actually be part of a portfolio, although "no more than 1%"....which I think is bs.
