I've been out of the litecoin/altcoin scene for a while. I've been mining litecoins and when I hit 100 I convert to btc. Well, I had 100 today and I log onto btce and see .045 and rising...

what did I miss?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

People are now into this crypto-money thing but they believe that bitcoin is expensive and litecoin is cheap. So they buy litecoins. Add speculators to that and voila litecoin going to 100$  Cheesy
