I just received the email with the coupons with a July 15th expire date.  That is practically useless unless we are going to see something new released. Current miners offered aren't performing in this down market so I guess I have to hold onto the coupons and see if they release something worth spending more money on.

I don't think I would be buying any more of these mini's.  This has the earmarks of another D3 mess.

They did the coupons that way for a reason, what better way to spike sales than to provide coupons with a short expiration time. Then scared buyers rush out to not miss out on their coupons even if it means buying older machines which helps bitmain clear out inventory before new miners are released.

Have you not done research into ETH's discussion on fork to PROG Proof of Work?  They already said they will fork.  So, why should Bitmain make an attempt at another ASIC for ETH if a fork is coming before September?

So again, bitmain fooled their "customers". Seems like people really like to get screwed.

Go to Ethereum's YouTube channel and listen to conversations the developers have been having recently.

There's no guarantee they will use PROG but they sound very interested.  However, they said they WILL fork and continue with POW/POS hybrid.

I simply listen to the developers discussion before an official release.  They sound like there will definitely be a fork and it's looking like a future POW/POS hybrid.

$250 coupons = $600 Z9 mini for batch 2 hmm.

The way I see it, if Zcash doesn't fork by Dec the $600 batch 2 Z9 mini will break even at least.
If it does fork, well that's good for my gpu farm.

The worst case scenario is the Z9 non-mini having way superior efficiency than the mini. The ProgPOW github did mention equihash ASICs have a potential 100x efficiency gain over gpu and the Z9 mini "only" has 10x efficiency. Link: https://github.com/ifdefelse/ProgPOW#equihash

Nothing risked, nothing gained. If things look good on July 14, I will be in for a few more $600 Z9 minis/doorstoppers.

As long as they aren't sold out by then.. I'm considering doing the same with my 2 coupons

Yeah I can't possibly sit by and do nothing. $30k in GPU humming away ($20k on equihash).
Hedge bets, I bought a batch 1 Z9 and now two more.

Agreed - ZEC is 65% of Equihash revenue, so whatever they do will determine how fast this becomes a door-stop.
30,000 sols @ 900W
my gpu do 10,000 @ 4,000W

If they all fork, my GPU are making good money again.
If ZEC doesn't, or is slow, my Z9 are at least ROI+

Total BTC for 3 * Z9 = 0.36
GPU have earned me 6x that, I owe it to them to hedge the bet.

EDIT: I doubled down. 5 * Z9 now on order. I had a friend who I helped with batch 1 who gave me both his coupons.
0.59 BTC total spent for 5 units (1*batch1, 4*batch2) that's about 80 days GPU profits for me. I don't want to stop this hobby and I feel now, either way, I can continue towards 2019 Wink

No way I will touch batch 2.  GMO just made a big announcement on SHA256 miners running 7nm chips so I can bet we are going to see 7nm sha256 announcements from Bitmain soon.  The S9 is old, hopefully I can use the coupons from the Z9's on that.

I'm in with you. However I think crypto prices are depressed now, don't wish to sell crypto for cheap. Hoping for $750 Eth/$9000 Btc in the next 4 weeks before jumping in to buy.

24 TH/s drawing 1950 Watts isn’t earth shattering, especially at $1,999.
