1337 shipped - https://blog.bitmain.com/z9/shipping_update/2018-06-22.html

So total is 4771. My guess is, given that now units ordered up to May 10th have shipped and sales closed around 20th May, that the total batch size is 5000 odd.

If you are in the US,  is it possible to pay the driver on delivery with cash or personal check?   I've made a UPS account and entered payment details, but I see no way to assign the shipping invoice to my account for online payment.

Yes.  Or at least I did that with my last S9 (so it was almost two years ago already).  I spoke with a UPS customer service person about my Z9 shipment, he said they could determine the price after it was landed in the states and through customs on this end.  So basically by the time it hits the lower 48 (if that's where yours is going).  So you should be able to call and find out exact amount in the 12-24 hours before it actually arrives and then give the driver a check for that amount.

Just for the record, I was actually able to obtain a refund on my payment on that S9 simply by calling their brokerage people and giving them a bunch of tracking numbers for previous bitmain shipments where I had not been required to pay a fee.  I have literally never actually paid a fee on a miner import before.  But it was a such a pain in the arse I am thinking I'll just suck it up on this Z9 and not complain about it.

I have 3 Z9's inbound now as follows:

1st paid on 5/3/2018 11:33 AM
2nd paid on 5/4/2018 05:28 AM
3rd paid on 5/8/2018 04:13 AM

1st order shipped on 6/19 via DHL and handed over to USPS yesterday for delivery today
2nd order shipped on 6/21 via DHL and scheduled for delivery Tuesday
3rd order shipped on 6/22 via DHL and no delivery date yet, but I suspect Wednesday

I'm in Virginia, USA.

As far as custom duties, DHL never contacted me about having to pay anything and given that my 1st Z9 is showing out for delivery with USPS, I'm pretty sure the mail dude isn't going to try to collect anything from me.  I never had to pay anything on the L3's I ordered, but DHL did collect customs on my S9's I ordered last year.  Friend of mine (also lives in VA) ordered a S9 earlier this year and never had to pay any customs.

I did get this email this morning related to my first order however:

Subject: Customs Clearance Notification

Dear crazydane,
The product you bought from Bitmain is proceeding to customs clearance. Please contact your regional branch of the shipping company with the required documents and/or tax to do the customs clearance.
Please find the package information as below:
DHL
Tracking No.#######
If you do not take immediate action and finish customs clearance, the product will be discarded by your local customs. We do not accept any refund requests in case of failure of customs clearance.
Please contact local carrier first immediately for further help.
Please kindly inform us if you are working on Customs Clearance.
You can track the package in below website, http://www.17track.net/en/
Again, if your products are returned, you will have to cover a round of shipping cost as well Chinese import tax, which may be more than your local customs tax.
We want you to receive your shipment promptly but customs clearance is entirely out of our control. Please take immediate action to avoid delays or additional costs.
Please do NOT reply to this email, submit a ticket via Support-Leave a message.   Mark your Order ID, carrier and tracking numbers on the title is extremely important to avoid delay reply.
Regarding Ticket Type*, please select A2-A25-A253~A256.
--- cut ---

The tracking number does match that of my initial order, but like I said, it cleared customs already and is out for delivery.  Scam?

So considering I purchased one @ $850 for shipment in late August, are the chances of me making any profit from mining with this slim? Also does Bitmain ever ship batches early?

I would use a $420 or less coupon to lower initial cost. If you don't have a coupon you can buy here on selling forum or on eBay.

For quality risers, splitters or 133 CFM fans, please visit my eBay listings,

Yes, by the time that you get your rig, the difficulty will have shot up on all the coins that have retained the Equihash algo. Good news will be that by that time, the rig should be working on most pools, including Nicehash. Also, if this bear market continues, people who are just now getting their miners may have difficulty achieving ROI. I haven't purchased a Z9 miner myself. Only reason that I am following this thread is that I was considering it.

Shenzhen,  China
06/23/2018   12:xx A.M.   Warehouse Scan
06/22/2018   9:xx P.M.   Your package is delayed at export and is awaiting release from customs.

1st unit online.

Starting it out at 643 MHz and no HW error so far:

Pool side view (doing BTG on MPG for now):

This thing is tiny and light compared to a S9:

No dust on this one.  Got that brand new electronics smell. Cheesy

Playing with overclocks and fanspeeds...anyone have any guesses what PCB & Chip temps are the limits for a Z9?

This is bogus. Customs items will be warehoused and you'll have to pay the fees to release it. They only discard or sell off items if you let it sit there for like 30-60 days.

Running under 60C / 65% Fan speed, without any errors for many days, I suppose that's fine.

From observations, you don't gain much beyond 650, it ends up around 14.5-15kh/s regardless. There is some other limit in the system which prevents it from doing more, may CPU/RAM limitation.

That has been my experience as well.  I'm currently running 656 but there is no difference from running at 646.

In the morning I'm going to put a current probe on my Z9 and plot power over time and relate it to clock setting, to see if it even uses more power at higher clocks.

Mine was supposed to be here today.  Arrived at UPS in Shenzhen on Wednesday.  Instead, it literally just departed Shenzhen in the past couple of hours.  Lame.

Delivery drivers in the US won't take cash.  And I am sure they won't take personal checks either.  I have been shipping since the 1980s.  C.O.D. used to be a popular option but went away a long time ago.  Driver's didn't want the responsibility and the risks.

You should find your local UPS office and try to pay there.  Might be able to pay at a UPS store.

Ya...at best only zcash will be remaining on equihash by the time you get your unit with very high difficulties you'll be looking at a 1-2 year ROI unless you did a coupon deal...no point in getting anything but batch 1.  Hopefully no one buys from bitmain again!

I remember reading Zencash hoping to have an algo fork by early/mid August? If that slips a few weeks maybe batch-2 buyers could sneak in some ZEN Smiley
