If you don’t like the product, don’t buy.  If you don’t like the returns, get involved.  If you just want to bitch and complain, create a new thread.  I’m quite thrilled with 30,000 seats generating $3 each in two years (that’s $120,000 in donations to NastyFans)!  It wildly surpasses any expectation I had when I raised a couple hundred dollars to run an FPGA miner more than 6 years ago.  I can’t wait to hear the amount people are complaining about in another 7 years.  I’m sure it will be equally impressive and those who own this piece of crypto history are unlikely to be disappointed.

Assuming that the return is linear over the year (which it wouldn't be) and the return is on one seat (which it absolutely isn't), the return halved is around 0.00020501. Compared to the price of a seat around one year ago, 0.0077BTC, the return is closer to 2.5%. Not that this is accurate whatsoever though, as the reward given is a result of multiple seats, therefore meaning the percentage return is significantly lower.

Regarding the sale price of a seat alone, in USD (as Og loves to reference), you would have made more than double your money by just keeping the BTC used at this point (and up to 3x more over the course of the last year), rather than buying the seat over a year.

Now, if those aren't returns worth creaming yourself over, what is?

It’s all on the blockchain. Do your own research. All the info is provided. No other coin generates anything and many are more expensive. Again, if you don’t like, don’t buy. Complaining about a feature no other coin has makes you a bit foolish. Almost as foolish as creating a chart where the historical price paid changes based on future exchange rates. It’s basically admitting you are committing tax fraud with your personal finances. It is clear you guys have a grudge and are presenting dishonest information in an attempt to bash my products. It is pathetic the attempts you make to try and harm this community organization. I sent a $4,000 donation just a week or so ago... Minted Seats are unique and incredible. You seem to take issue with the word free. I should have called the funds what they are, donations. I guess they aren’t free, as hundreds of involved Bitcoiners are the ones helping generate the donations with their efforts.

I don’t care if I look terrible. I care about Bitcoin. I care about innovation. I care about mankind. This project was created to show there is a better more fair method of distributing funds in an organization than the CEO making a fortune and walking with a golden parachute. You either see the genius in the structure or you don’t. You either want to be a part of this piece of Bitcoin history or you don’t. The judge will be the test of time though, not some newbies who don’t understand finance and wonder why the organization they bash instead of foster is failing to meet their ridiculous expectations. I think the problem is just ignorance and a lack of experience with investments. NastyFans seats have been one of the greatest returns I’ve ever made after a 2 decade long investment career. The only thing that has outperformed them is Bitcoin itself. Having the seats minted to a physical coin that stores the distributions, well, that’s just awesome.

There is a minimum accrual before it gets paid out on the blockchain (not sure what that number might be). I have one of the earliest coins and it did get a blockchain payout once the minimum was reached in addition to ongoing accrual.

Anyway, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to buy these coins, or anything else, but I don't see the need for hostility about it.

Yes it is possible they are bad investments. It is also possible some aspect (the coin itself for collectable purposes, the silver, the seat, and/or the mining/donation accruals) or the combination of them makes it a good investment, or that someone might not care and see it as a good community builder. Who knows, really. Participate if you like or not if you don't.

The last 1oz coins I released were 3x for under $200.  That includes generating custom addresses, engraving key pairs, attaching holograms, and a donation to NastyFans...  If that's too expensive, I also have the binary rounds that were available for as cheap as $35 per round (which also include the community donation).

More than 6 years since these coins were released and I'm still fascinated by and proud of this innovation in an organization's distributions.  Bitcoin's growth has certainly provided some unforeseen challenges, but it's great to see no compromises or disfunction in these coins to date.

Thank you.  If kept in their original plastic capsules they will maintain their beauty for many years to come.  The original coins released are holding $37.89 at the current rate.  I suspect in time they will surpass their sale price of ~$100, but more importantly it demonstrates an incredibly unique and innovative concept that continues to operate successfully today.

I know of a few things in the works for NastyPool, but I'm not sure I'm the person to comment on it as my only involvement was as a user.  NastyPool was also free to use, so it never had any effect on seats that I'm aware of (outside of p2pool's irregularity).  It was built to support decentralized mining, which turned out to be not so important to the mining community as time evolved.  We hoped to show that things could be built on top of p2pool, like NastyFans showed how things could be built on top of Bitcoin.  I would love to continue supporting p2pool and believe that decentralized mining should be important to everyone involved with Bitcoin, but I heard many complaints about the regularity of mining rewards that ultimately made me decide to mine at a centralized pool like everyone else.
