This sort of thing is why I advise people to stay as far undergorund as possible in their dealings in cryptocurrency. Mods and Admins did a great job of getting things put back together though! My $.02  |

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

In my defence, I do already keep my financial and business set of passwords completely separate from my community stuff, just surprised at how much Bitcointalk has been attacked lately. |

And a ridiculously strong one for your bitcoins/banks etc. Dictionary words and birth year ain't gonna cut it. |

Most bank websites in the US actually forbid strong passwords. The strongest I've ever seen is maximum of 12 characters, only letters and numbers allowed. Typically you're restricted to 8 letters and numbers only. |

Is there a maximum amount on bitcoin wallets? |

I'm not sure this is entirely the plan though, maybe they just want to harvest passwords and try link them with wallets etc. Surely somebody would spot the abuse very quickly. Hopefully those kinda peeps should be immediately alarmed when they're asked to log in again without signing out. |

As bitcoin grows in value and because of the internet nature of the currency attacks will happen again for sure. And bitcointalk is among the first targets along with exchanges and online wallets. |

Using a separate password for every site is the best solution to avoid such hacks it seems but then the user might forget one of them or more but still it will secure the accounts from hacks and even better if google authorization is used.

If you're not using some kind of password manager to generate a unique, random password for every website you're going to get burned sooner or later. |
