Something along the lines of being able to sign a message from an account that had a lot of value at one point to be percieved to have a lot of funds available for something.  Scammers try new methods all the time.

Not scam but they can be used to extract clams and other crypto currencies that were distributed based on snapshot of the block chain of bitcoin.

Also it might be used to show proof for filling of tax and other purpose.
