There is no "newer" version of Hive wallet... it has not been actively developed since 2016...
If it is the MacOSX version of the wallet, apparently you might be able to make it work with MultiBit Classic, as per the Hive Dev's comments here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/5zft9b/how_to_recover_old_hive_wallet/So... in theory, you could:
1. Install MultiBit Classic 0.5.19 (installer archived here:
https://multibit.org/releases/multibit-classic/multibit-classic-0.5.19/)
2. Open your wallet file using MB Classic
3. Export your private keys from MB Classic... Video tutorial by MultiBit devs here:
https://youtu.be/LaijbTcxsv84. Import or Sweep your private keys into the wallet of your choice
Note: in Step 3. no need to use Electrum if you don't want to... just ignore the bit at the start about installing Electrum and follow the video up until around 1:25 secs where you have the text file exported. Having said that, I would highly recommend Electrum as a replacement wallet.
Just note that the options in Electrum changed slightly in newer versions... You need to select "Import Bitcoin Addresses or private keys" instead of "Standard Wallet" when prompted to select what kind of wallet you want to create:
