So I was going over recently merited posts/topics and noticed this one. I've seen it a few times but don't understand why would someone do this? Not accusing anyone of anything, but this baffles me. Giving 2 merit on the same post within a few seconds in between.  Huh Huh Huh

And it on this reply ....

I noticed the exchanged happened very early time when merit was introduced. But one thing is very noticeable, these merits are flowing (TOO MUCH) on ANN, Bounty, Airdrop types of posts.

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M

That can happen unintentionally if you refresh the merit page.

(Not that I would fathom why altcoin advertisements would be considered worthy of merit in the first place, but hey, to each their own...)

Yeap, that's why I'd like to see merit disabled on most of the marketplace, since a good majority of posts there are ads.

Unintentionally means, probably, messing up once or twice... :/

One of the reasons this could happen is that the person refreshed his page after giving merits to another member. Same number of merits will be awarded to same member without asking for his confirmation. I am not taking sides of anyone but there is possibility of that happening as well.

This person might have experienced some lag issues during his awarding of merits to that said post. This may be a posibility because sometimes it really does happen. If this isn't it, then the one who was given by him a merit seems his alt.

That's the only two possibilities that may come. But judging by the time he awarded it, I think it's really some lag issues and he tried refreshing it though, but still there's quite a lot of it so the possibility of this being his alt is also high.

It's a refreshing problem, that user even reported it immediately after happened.

Hey guys!

I think I found a bug in the Merit system: on the Merit page from my profile if I refresh the page, the system sends the same amount of sMerit points to the last person I have sent the points, see here:

I don't know if this is relevant but, I'm using Opera browser.

Cheers!

I had attempted to provide an explanation (and a fix) for that issue in an earlier post of mine in this thread.

Here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.msg29198138#msg29198138

Thanks for the heads up! Thought I'm the only one with this issue Smiley The search did returned a post for "refresh" but that was not related with this issue.

That thread beside, is not an ICO but a DAO project that raised no money at all and i have been helping out for quite some time now.

I would probably agree that unintentionally would only happen a few times. It's probably what the user would claim he done, but I just don't seen any reason why you would refresh the page this amount of times.

Yeap, that's why I'd like to see merit disabled on most of the marketplace, since a good majority of posts there are ads.

In the majority of the cases people are just vouching for the seller via merits. Yeah, it's not what the merit system was intended for but, I have no qualms with people using their own merit which they have earned to do this.

Yeah, I've done that a couple of times without meaning to.  My guess is that this guy hasn't figured out that glitch yet and didn't mean to give that many merits to the same post.  Damn lucky break for the recipient, though.  lol

Or it could be merit abuse--but I'm trying to assume good faith, because it is possible to do this by accident.  Who knows.

Neither am I, I've just noticed that few users have done thi g but I didn't know there was a glitch involving the page refreshing.

Ah, it's ok, I've just brought it up because it's not the first time I see someone meriting someone a few times on the same post. Well I guess this has been resolved.  Smiley
