Guys, I am not dumping a single coin. There's no point to dump. We are building its long term potentials. The price is up and down, there are traders out there. And most alt coins are down recently, due to the BTC problems.

The grain dev team is there, it's not going away, we commit to support our coin.

We recently are busy at work, but we will continue to support the coin and community.

Aaand this was a perfect time to appear:)
Really glad to see you.

Woops ^^

Welcome back Bosian,
Even some body misunderstand you, but, never mind,
Because of MOST of Grainers are trust you,

I want to suggest one thing,

1. Please gathering the issues
2. Please gathering the opinions from the grainer
3. And, we need to restart before half-life reward

Anyway,
MOST of grainers are willing to gather their own effort,

Thanks for your suggestions. I will look into it if there are any issues.

The coin appears working fine. The PoW diff a bit low, which may cause some orphans, but the mining should be fine...

anyway please post any issues you experience.

Hi Bosian,

several people have problems with the Grain client.
It gets a single core to 100% load and freezes the whole time.
Its not just the GUI, the grain daemon doesn't respond to cgminer, you cant mine with it.
Its not a full freeze, it freezes for 2-3 minutes, works for 2 seconds and freezes again.
I had to create a new wallet in order to make the client usable again.
I assume, that a huge ammount of PoS matured inputs is causing this.
The client is not freezing, as long the wallet is locked.
Do you have a clue how to fix this or should I just transfer my Grain to the new wallet and lose the coinage?
I am using the windows client.

Thanks!

Exactly the same issue.

Though I did not experience this issue, some people told me the scenario and the same problem exist in a couple of other pow/pos coins.

One friend mined another pow/pos coin, and he had similar issue (CPU goes to 100% after opening wallet - then client not responding). He told me one way out of it that he found. I never tried it as i did not have the issue. But I share the method here and hopefully it will help you. Make sure you make backups of the wallet.dat before trying this.

This is what he did: in another computer, create a new wallet (if you have a single computer, you can do this, just move wallet.dat to a saved dir, again always make backups of wallet.dat, then start client, a new wallet will be created, copy it's address, and move it to a new dir, and move your original wallet.dat back). Then back to the computer where the wallet has the issue, disable the internet, then open the client, do a send of all the balance to the new wallet 1st, then enable the internet. Now the send transaction will be executed after wallet goes to sync, and all your balance should be transferred to the new wallet. The new wallet should not have this issue.

We don't know why the issue occurs. It is a generic issue with pow/pos coins. It seems that when there are too many transactions in a wallet, people may experience this kind of problems. We will keep investigating and if we found a solution of it, we will share with the community.

Why this coin price is so down?

Almost everything is down in price, and there hasn't been much activity to increase the name recognition lately.

Guys, the skydrive wallet is not available anymore. The other one doesn't work - it says that it asked visual c++ to terminate it in an unusual way. How can I download a working wallet? Please fix.

The coin appears working fine. The PoW diff a bit low, which may cause some orphans, but the mining should be fine...

anyway please post any issues you experience.

ISSUES #1 : CPU Load of Client is too high for the some computer
                   * PoS Hashing Routines are in the threads and running under the lower priority
                   * Possibly, huge work will be involved to improve this issues

ISSUES #2 : Too many orphans
                   * It is happen due the many of clinets are found a block within short time
                   * It is related with the actual/practical block time
                   * the actual/practical block time is affected by DIFF

                   (1) What is the block time of this coin ?
                   (2) This issues are happending when DIFF of PoS is Too Low or Too High
                        [1] a week ago, DIFFofPoS is reduced to 0.000~0.001, and DIFFofPoS is 0.7~1.2
                        [2] a days ago, DIFFofPoS is rised to 0.01~0.09,
                             It makes the DIFFofPoW is reduced to 0.05~0.25,
                             Due to the too low diff of DIFFofPoW, 4~16 PoW blocks are generated with 1-2 seconds interval on BlockChain

                  Assumption, If BlockTimeOfPoS is very long (Client will suffer by the heavy CPU Load),
                                   Due to the long PoS Time,
                                   PoW Diff will be reduced and,
                                   When chance to generate PoW, it will generated within very short time
                                   It generate so many orphans

                  Assumption, If BlockTimeOfPoS is very short (Clinet will be free from the heavy CPU Load),
                                   After generated PoW, followed PoS block will be found very shortly
                                   It will invalid the previous PoW block,
                                   Too high sensitivy on the networ latency of Clients,

                  DIFF = Fn(PrevBLOCKTIME)
                  NextBLOCKTIME = Fn(DIFF)

                  But, In this coin, you are using

                  DIFFw = Fn(PrevBLOCKTIME_ws)
                  BLOCKTIMEw = Fn(DIFFw)
                  ---
                  DIFFs = fn(PrevBLOCKTIME_ws')
                  BLOCKTIMEs = fn(DIFFs)

                 in PrevBLOCKTIME_ws/ws' are overlapped, and, it makes an uncontrolled affect on the other parts

                 I hope you need to review "all values are under the controlled/managed"

ISSUES #3 : The block time is too flexible [Too Fast Now]

                 Couple of days ago, I have reported this issues on this forum,
                 When track the average block time of this coin is very flexible 10~30 seconds (20 seconds avg)

                 Recommend, Please the download the blockchain information, make a graph and observe

                                     Y (Block Time )  vs X (Blocks)

                                     Y (PoS Blocks per 10 minutes, PoW Blocks Per 10 Minutes) vs  X (Time)

                                     Y (DIFF of PoS,  DIFF of PoW) vs X (Time)

                 I believe you can easily the data (I have tried with just copy of data from BlockChain),
                 I Really Really Suggest you to make this graph,
                 And, Observe, There are so many good references

ISSUES #4  : Super Block

                 The super block chance is invalid for the miner, even any reason,
                 It reduce the average coin rewards

                 Suggest, use an unpredictable but predictable super block chances

----------------------------------------------------------------

The diff of PoW is around 0.3~0.6 (NetWork Hash is very low now), and, PoS is 0.00x now.
I guess, It is a kind of golden ratio in PoS/PoW mixed DIFF method, to avoid the problems,
If this ratio is broken by any reason, issues will be happend again

Have a nice day

Opening a new client on another computer will not work (at least for me id did not work). The new client will not sync at all with the blockchain.

Tried creating a new wallet and copying wallet.dat back (same computer) same issue. 20% CPU use 139Meg of ram

Any suggestions?

To calcuate hash for PoS block, QT will use CPU continously.

If PoS is found quickly, QT will not affect on your computing.

But, If not, you can not avoid this issues with the same QT and same Wallet.

If very low Diff of PoS will help to reduce CPU load time, but, it will cause the network issues again.

Anyway, that is unresolvable issue at beginning stage of coin (low diff stage, low network hashrate stage).

To avoid that issue, I am using two QT,
and mergy my coin daily, and move to the other QT,

There are maximum 5% of loss of PoS Interest, but, It can reduce the huge chace of CPU load time.

Have a nice day

I run my wallet on a Linux Mint VM without any serious issues.

The wallet can take a few minutes to load but after that it's fine.

I don't get any system slow down either.

This is using 1.4 compiled from source.

**UPDATE on Wallet Issue

Ok so here is how I resolved the slow wallet issue.

Did what Bosian said. Installed 1.4 on another machine. Let it sync to the chain.

Opened the old wallet up, without internet connectivity. Plugged in internet and started transferring.

Had to do it in 24k bunches as I was getting an error on anything larger than that.

Got all but 30k. That is still stuck in there. Hopefully I can get that moved over this weekend.
