Thanks for your answer. When running the new emercoin-qt wallet it now also lists Unobtanium among the list of copyright credits (in addition to Bitcoin, PPcoin and Namecoin). Do you know what part of Unobtanium code was added to Emercoin, or what it relates to? Thanks again!

As for your question, SegWit reduces the size of new transactions and as a result the size of Emercoin blockchain, solving the problem of transaction malleability. This is done by removing transaction signature information and storing it outside the base transaction block.
