Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

Big bitcoin holders only control the market up until the point that they sold all their coins. They can have deep pockets, but not infinite ones.

This is very different from the FED which can print new money as they wish.

Bitcoin Core developer [PGP] Warning: For most, coin loss is a larger risk than coin theft. A disk can die any time. Regularly back up your wallet through FileBackup Wallet to an external storage or the (encrypted!) cloud. Use a separate offline wallet for storing larger amounts.

A lot of people are using Bitcoin for ideological reasons. That makes sure that Bitcoin will not lose all of its value.

This forum is full of experienced people, so posting here will be of no use. Earlier the bears were posting in the BTC-E trollbox, but it seems that the exchange is banning quite a lot of them.

I agree there seem to be a lot of people posting to try to deflate the BTC price.  I could see it going down but I doubt it would go to zero.  Unless something goes wrong like hacking.  Well, maybe the btc community would latch onto a new cryptocurrency if btc develops more problems?

Hmm... in  most of the cases bearish / spam threads are immediately taken care by the older members. Also, even the newbies will notice the post count and trust ratings.

You don't have any bitcoins Mirsad, shut up now. You are pathetically trying to get some lower price where you could sell your kidney to afford one BTC. At least that is my impression from your posts; it is also very close to reality.

I really think that some of these bears are really upset by the bitcoin's perfs.

Something like they suddenly realize that 90% of the world is virtual and they can't accept it because they didn't see it happening.

He seems out of touch with modern times, One thing in common about all the "celebrity" bitcoin bashers is that they missed the train and can't make their 10,000% profits anymore.

yes, when you monitor their statement you can see clues to their envy, jealously and them attempting to sound relevant. this happens all the time

Exactly, don't know why people fail to see this characteristic of Bitcoin.

Well.. in that case there is a slight chance that a better cryptocurrency can actually replace Bitcoin. In my opinion, the chances are scarce, as no major technical flaws were discovered for Bitcoin during the past five years.

I think the only problem with Bitcoins is there is that it's difficult for the current majority of people to understand today. There's no easy system around it, people don't know where Bitcoins come from, what Mining is, how to mine, how to have a wallet, how to transfer BTC, how to secure a cold wallet, majority of people don't know any of that and I admit it is a lot to learn.

If BTC were to be widely accepted it has to be friendly to people who aren't tech-savvy. Right now there's just no system that does that.
