I was just talking to someone about it as a joke. But then I wondered if this would really be possible.

Colonize (or to buy) a land without a country and then declare the land the property of the United States of Bitcoin. If it is a land without a country and without sovereignty, who can oppose it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terra_nullius

We could "blockchainize" everything, the health system, insurance, electricity/gas, voting, food, registry land, diploma/degree and so on.

Also, the moon is owned by nobody, we can also colonize there. Free from regulations, corruption. we won't have any political opponents or resurgents

What do you think

BTW: I am sober & serious

LOL, I didn't know it exists. The good news is I didn't sign any treaty, and this one is invalid juridically. During the colonization I don't think any country asked for a permission Lips sealed

You absolutely could claim the Moon or set up a Micronation - many have done it before. However, these claims are generally unrecognized by the global community and you then have the slight issue of how you become a self-sustaining country.

Wow

Quote
Some recurrent criteria characterize micronation, for example:

1 - the production of signs of sovereignty: stamps, coins, medals, flags, national anthems, costumes, souvenirs, promotional brochures, etc., in -sufficient commercial quantities;
2 - the proven construction, in progress or planned, of a monument, building or structure;
3 - a website.

fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micronation

1 we could use paper wallets as banknotes and make some casascius
2 I can make a Satoshi statue out of pottery and to buy something like Sealand
3 bitcoin.org and the parliament could be Bitcointalk

So it could really be possible. Cheesy

And legally or offically speaking, how to claim a land on the Moon.

In that case, let me be the first to declare my house and adjoining land independent and the first state in the United States of Bitcoin. I hereby stand as de-facto president until other states join and we can organise an election.

This might be complicated somewhat as I will not be revealing my real name or address.  Grin

Theymos and the others have already planned a sea-stead, and it's freaking expensive. But they have lost interest.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of it, but only the riches will be able to afford a place there and will use their house for the summer holidays surely. And with the sea level increases, I am not sure if it is safe in the long run to live there. I prefer to build huts in the woods with people

How will you make sure some dude hasn't copied the seed of the wallet? You will need a trust system like nothing we have seen before for this to work. As for your idea, I think it can be done, Floating/Underwater cities will be a thing in the future. I am also sure Floating/Underwater countries will pop up in the future as well. The United States of bitcoin could be the first one if it can gain traction. I wonder what kind of investment will be required for something like this to be done in the international waters.

Hmm, Only if we can get access to one of satoshi's wallet  Grin

Buying something like Sealand did, an oil platform, I'm sure some companies would be happy to get rid of their floating garbages. It could also get them free advertisement. I could vacuum it up for maintenance and redo the painting.

I discovered there is a micronation in my country, I didn't know, and the land is delimited it seems.

But it could be better if you could use the moon to do such plan Grin

This is a very intriguing idea and i think it could work. Although I can only imagine it would need some significant funding to get it started. But the benefits and possibilities of everything on the blockchain could be limitless. Maybe one day this will come to fruition!

Umm...

Alright, let's get started.

Founding a micro-nation without international recognize requires 3 things;

1. A people (permanent citizens)
2. Land (like an island or purchased land)
3. A set of laws (other, it's just anarchy)

Defining the set of rules in Bitcoin is mostly done via majority vote via Proof-of-Work. However, this system doesn't really scale when it comes to government entities due to the weakness of the proof of work implemented for Bitcoin.

I think democracy works better than proof of work, liquid democracy is probably the *best* form of democracy.

So, let's control laws through liquid democracy rather than proof of work?

The micronation in my country doesn't have a land, there is one but it belongs to the republic, not to the micronation
But look at this micronation Sealand https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f9/Sealand_fortress.jpg?uselang=fr
I can buy this no problem http://www.lepoint.fr/images/2016/09/22/5419663lpw-5419802-article-refugies-jpg_3794583_660x281.jpg

We can use blockchain technology for voting but voting what
It could be nice to have no president and people living in peace as such as there is no need to create laws

There are several micronations listed on Wikipedia and their respective history are funny. Grin

if indeed all will be released in such a manner without rules, without politics, etc., I think that will cause chaos, because everyone has a different character, some are good and some are evil

I can't help but notice that The Pentagon occupies a central location. I wonder if that is intentional or just artistic.

And you can always create a virtual nation with the Pangea Arbitration system to have a legal framework:

You don't need land.  You can create and people can join a "voluntary virtual nation", develop their own laws and government methods and ensure that everyone complies with the law with a staking mechanism. I am playing with the idea of creating the Virtual Republic of Paxmania (note that VRP also serves as Very Rich People, but that's not intentional).
