Actually it totally depends on supply and demand. It doesn't matter that whether you buy or sell. If demand increase more than supply , price will be increased and vice versa. So better to watch the market trend and analyze the reason of price changing.

These quick market cycles are actually good for bitcoin. If we only went up it would crash even harder and have a more difficult time coming back. This isn't just about short term profits but long term gains and mass adoption. Hold on to your bitcoin and forget about them for a while. What you want in reality is for the demand of Bitcoin to increase. This could easily be achieved if people realized and understood that Bitcoin goes beyond a speculative currency for storage of value. Bitcoin and blockchain are technological innovations that enable decentralization without a Reserve currency. Reserve Currencies lead to great empires falling, or at least the economies taking a tremendous hit every 60-years or so. We are enabled, through bitcoin, to have economic freedom, security and control all while dealing with deflationary currency that is constantly growing in value.

In simple terms, you increase the value of Bitcoin through education, not through HODLing, pumping, dumping or yelling at people to follow your half-baked plan to increase prices to the moon for self-gain. People that are genuinely interested in the foundational principals of Bitcoin are going to become extremely invested and drive the demand up like mad. People that are interested in earning a few bucks, like yourself, only serve to create bubbles that pop as soon as people get cold-feet.

Imagine people standing on a rowing boat, even a larger boat you dont ever want to see all people standing on the same side.  Its incredibly unbalanced and leads to a capsized boat possibly to the loss of the boat and failure for everyone.     All buyers would not be a positive event to see, something is not right if that happens.  
 I agree with Rozita, a developed market involves everyone from many different perspectives, stances, timing and backgrounds.   I'm really negative on a market reliant on just one kind of customer as its far more fragile then a product anyone can use and I hope Bitcoin becomes increasingly friendly and easy to use for this reason.

This is a horribly scary thread and I hope it was meant as a joke, not a common view by many.   Bitcoin long term gains from the down moves and the up moves, so long as we find volume and there is some utility ongoing to the usage of the BTC blockchain.  You can be sure there is alot of competition out there who want to replace Bitcoin with their own system and take that revenue, so a stable slow gain in population even if it didnt see any price change is very bullish.

Yup yup! If you want large returns for no effort then be patient. If you want giant spikes then they will inevitably be followed by a giant crash, and some investors leaving.

The hype around rising prices is exactly why people investing long-term feel safe enough to resist the upward trend. We know the speculators will resist pumps, and that panicking speculators will always sell to us at a lower price (like with today's dip). All of these corrections actually keep bitcoin from crashing again, which means more popularity amongst potential investors, and thus higher demand. I expect multiple corrections at every $2k USD mark. The moving average will keep on rising but speculators provide the crests and dips that make margin trading so profitable. Even if every speculator decided to 'buy low sell high', the baseline support for crypto keeps increasing. Its popularity has gone viral, so unless a billionaire or Nakamoto try to crash the market, it won't crash. Because more and more people are getting into bitcoin, and they dip their feet, many are ready to take a swim That said, I could be totally wrong. But at least I put my money where my mouth is.

Why is reserve currency bad? I think it can work if lending is regulated and demand stays high. Right now I think every country and bank (outside the RSII-Coalition) supports the USD, and only exports oil in USDs. So the demand for the USD stays high. Right now banks have a negligible amount of gold/silver in reserve and most currency exists as debt - yet there is still high demand for national currencies because we use it for everyday goods! The global economy collapsing will still have an effect on crypto. I'm absolutely sure that in the future, banks will have their own crypto coins, and lend out crypto they don't have! Heh!

It doesn't work that way mate, there are a bunch of us here who are actively trading, thus, constantly buying and selling is something that occurs daily. You are not going to get rich if everyone stops selling, not that you could control it by any means. People want to profit, not just hold and hope for the best. I have a volume of $1.200 the last few weeks by buying and selling, you can't tell me to simply buy and hold them, won't make me any profit at all.

No body want to sell their bitcoin as they know that the price of it will increase but there are many people who have to sell for their needs as they have to pay the bills of their home and have to fulfill the needs of their family like to spend on their food and on their health and their education for which they sell their coins. By the way if you will promote it in your are and other places where you find some investors then the demand will be increased and the price will tend to increase too.

If the people start to hold as like you,the price of bitcoin will reach a stable value.And it will reach any peak in a couple of weeks.Due to the new investor,the price of bitcoin is badly affect.They will sell their bitcoin by seeing the minor fluctuation.If they avoid panic selling,the price will not fluctuate often.

i am not a "newbie" ive been doing this for awhile now...And when i say stop selling i dont mean never sell but it seems so many sell whenever a slight drop happens  which causes a major drop...im in it for the big payoff,not a few hundred a month...i watch the money just go up n up then it gets near a nice number,people start selling then it just drops n drops,like since sunday,its been terrible...keep buying and watch your pockets grow..to me investing is for people that dont live check to check and want real money,not for people to buy a few hotdogs once a week...

Well that’s just how it is, not everyone buy and not everyone sells their coin. You can't please everyone and you can’t tell everyone what they want to do with their coins. It seems you have no idea how markets work.
You can not just have buyers in a market. You need sellers as well. And where are many people, there are also different goals and agendas.
Some may want to get rich by buying and holding Bitcoin, as they believe Bitcoin is the future. Other market participants however see Bitcoin just as a vehicle to make USD, Yen or Euro for instance. And others just use it to buy goods or services with it. Sorry but that is something you have to accept. Otherwise I would say you are the one who is wrong here. If you can not take the ugly but necessary bear times of a cycle you are definitely not worthy to see the next 20x gains.

We can't control what other people are going to do with their money, it is their own money anyways so even if the OP wants those who are selling to stop selling he don't have any rights to stop them. All of us wants to have a better life and we are working hard for it through earning crypto but we have different needs and some of us would be put in some situations where they have no choice but to sell.

I think you should be patient with what is happening because it is not just you who wants to get rich, we all want, but no one, not even you, have control over other people's investments.
