Will be putting 1.0 or 2 bitcoin on Coinbase for storing and maybe trading purposes. Will that be safe?
Also I am buy when the price is 900US so it would be about 1100AU per bitcoin for me.
Do you think it's safe to sort that amount on there. It's pretty small change for some people but I would like advice as it is a lot of money for me at the moment.
Please advise, Urgent.

Blockchain.info web wallet is better, as you have control of the private keys. Of course, offline wallet is the best.

MtGox has a long history of issues. I'd stay away from them unless you want to become a statistic.

Is it safe to hold bitcoin with MT GOX if I get YUBI key and OTP card plus google authenticator.
I don't know how to do Paper wallet. Also I prefer everything online.
It depends on the risk appetite, as a rule of thumb you should keep funds you are willing to loose inside your online wallet.

If you really want to store it online, blockchain is probably your best choice. Don't forget to make a encrypted backup

You're lucky you still have your Bitcoins on there Basically, any kind of online wallet is unsafe.

You better setup a linux box setup an encrypted wallet, backup this wallet, encrypt the backup and save it in the cloud

Been a learning curve for me, just been in over two weeks. I will look into paper wallet in the next few weeks.
I am happy with Coinbase and Blockchain.info for now. Wish I bought at $100. I put in big amounts in silver 3 years ago think it would reach these heights like bitcoin, unfortunately hasn't. Wondering whether to sell silver at 50% losses and plump in BTC.

Technically challenged at this time, that sounds like a serious challenge. Would virtual Linux box on Windows do?

nothing is completely safe. for storing coins, mtgox is certainly less safe than an offline wallet.

Keeping funds online is not safe anyway and there are many examples lately of people getting burned by online wallets. Keep on exchanges only the money you actually trade with.

I would not ever use online wallets like blockchain for storing any substantial amount, they are a target for hackers and their security can be compromised. Or the service operator may decide one day, that it's more profitable to steal all clients wallets, than run the service.
