why are bit coiners so obsessed with retail? its such a small part of the economy?
But such a HUGE part of the public consciousness. who are mostly not haveing money. which retail adoption so far has seen any real increase in BTC value? Lol nothing I suppose, Overstock might've helped a bit, but basically nothing. I suppose if the Xapo debit cards actually come out, since they're supposed to soon, would increase public attention, but I'm not sure. Besides the email I received from them, I haven't seen any mentioning of Xapo anywhere. I doubt it would affect public's awareness of Bitcoin.

IIRC both overstock and disk accepting bitcoin both helped the price (it when up the day these were announced) and both generated a good amount of news by the MSM. I would say that overstock probably had the biggest impact as they were the first.

A big store in the mall is what Bitcoin really needs though.

Agreed, If we could get a store like Macys or Sears to except bitcoin I think others would follow. However I am not sure that with the confirmation times of bitcoin that this would be a feasible option for retailers.

Doesn't this solely depend on the store itself?

However I am not sure that with the confirmation times of bitcoin that this would be a feasible option for retailers. I could easily see a store like Brookstone being the first to accept BTC. Or heck who knows...maybe the Microsoft store will try to beat Apple to the punch and have their brick and mortar store accept BTC...

Now many big companies are starting accept bitcoin. So it's not so far that the world will accept it fully.I have really much confidence that soon bitcoin will be accepting in the malls.

Like a said there's no way a merchant will accept Altcoins, there's simply no added benefit of accepting dozens of different coins of the same kind, most aren't even compatible with each other.
There are merchants that accept alt coins, and there will be a lot more coming in 2015. Sure, it doesn't compare to the amount of Bitcoin merchants, but they're not trash if people are willing to trade with them.
