apple's on a mission to ban legitimate apps that threaten it's great wall of apple.
bitcoin could make it possible that they lose their edge at milking the sheep.

if you have any respect for yourself regardless of if you like bitcoin or not it's time to dump all your iCrap and look for better options in your life.

seriously, time for apple to go the way of blackberry and wither away.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

It would be nice if that happened but everyone around the world seems to want their iDevice so that they can play in the walled garden. The brand is still strong.

I don't own an iphone or something but bitcoin will succeed only if it's greater than a mobile platform.
I mean if apple can stop bitcoin then it wasn't worth much anyway  Tongue

The loss of the app store as a means of transactions is not that big a deal. We are still able to do transactions via mobile-ready websites so in the very worst case it might take a little longer to use your iphone for a bitcoin transaction. And for all we know Apple may decide to open up to bitcoins in the future as they expand and are met with more mainstream support.

That's a really hard task for me- almost out of the question. I'm happy there is hive and bitcoin is easy enough to use on OSX, but yeah the iphone I'm having some serious issues with. I love it and all, but I love bitcoin too. I'll stick with my ihpone 4s for now, but I turned down a recent opportunity to go for the 5S. Might go for a windows phone to be honest, as I simply hate the interface for Android. How is Bitcoin support on Windows phones?

yep i've been a apple fan the second they release the macbook air. What a great innovation! Naturally i endend up having an iphone too.
But now apples politic on bitcoin is forcing me out of the idevice and i'll probably go for android. I'm sad for the 4S which is a very good phone but bitcoin is more important to me than that toy so i'll probably dump it soon.
The gap has shorten with the laptop "air style" so my apple phase is over.

Bitcoin will thrive with or without the support of apple.  While the iphone continues to take a nose dive in the smartphone arena bitcoin continues to thrive and expand.  I'm sure eventually apple will havce no choice but to change their policy.  They are already getting left in the dust but android because of various other reasons (screen size, removable battieries, external sd card storage, etc etc) that I don't they can really continue to exclude bitcoin apps if bitcoin continues to expand at the rate it has been.

Stop focusing on the brand and start looking at the operative system and the hardware.

I never said I was focusing on brand. I just asked for suggestions for alternatives to iPhones.

before you ask for a suggestion you need to understand what you need/want
I guess any mobile can replace it to make a call..

Well, one like an iPhone, but not Tongue.

As long as it has similar features to an iPhone and has similar apps, then I don't really require much from it to be honest.

What also bugs me about Apple, is there resistance to NFC.

Phones are not very safe for bitcoin storage.  We need a low cost keyring hardware wallet, like the Trezor, with NFC. Then you hold it to the back of your phone when making a payment, or in the case of a shop, hold it against the shops NFC device, and key in your pin.

I said this because Nokia smartphones have Windows Phone OS, while most other smartphones have Android, and apple smartphones have iOS. So if you get a nokia you won't have the same OS you would have by buying for example a Galaxy S-something

Lame speculation, Apple themselves have clearly mentioned that they will not allow it until there is regulatory clarity.

I don't think there is any ulterior motive here. This is just the downside apple gets for controlling everything with an iron fist. They are responsible for what happens in their app store because they decided to control it so tightly.

Eventually it will catch up with them(again).
