Nothing can take bitcoin's place in my opinion.
Nothing can take ethereum's and ripple's place. These three coins are doing best at their place.
Bitcoin is a very important coin for crypto space as like ethereum at its own place. Ethereum is a hard competitor but to overtake bitcoin is more likely impossible.

Simple the Money, since if many people will drop some hard large fiat on Ethereum or with ripple to beat the cap of bitcoins then most provably the bitcoins will defeated. But this case is so impossible since bitcoins is one of the leading most recommended crypto. And Ethereum is just a second option while ripple is been avoided by people who hate centralization.

I do not think ethereum or ripple can beat bitcoin s bitcoin remains the most widely accepted cryptocurrency. It has the strongest management team, stable blockchain and has the highest possibility to yield profit within a short period of time. Bitcoin is the oldest crypto and all other crypto were formed from it own idea. The price of most cryptocurrency is largely affect by the change in price of bitcoin and its stability.

I think it will take a lot of work and time and even training to beat your hardworking and never relenting boss. Even at old age as you have a series of work to do. Same is applied for ethereum and ripple to beat bitcoin. They cannot beat bitcoin has this remains the best and mother of all cryptocurrency.
