Website: https://cowry.io

What is the Cowry OS?

Cowry OS is a monitoring and management platform for mining rigs. You can see and configure all your rigs in one place, monitor hashrates, online status, GPU errors, reboot them, etc

Features:

Remote management of rigs from the web(setting OC settings, target temperature, fan speed, etc)
Reporting of hashrate, card temperatures etc
Watchdogs (auto-restart of miner or system in case of an error)

We will also release an Android and iOS app in the coming weeks.

And probably our biggest feature is a platform for AI researchers where they will be able to rent GPUs from users running the Cowry OS. The system will automatically allocate the GPUs to a potential renter and it will allow miners to make 2-3x more than just mining coins(even more when prices are down). This is still in the making, but should be release in a few months.

You can follow us on Facebook(https://www.facebook.com/cowry) and Twitter(https://twitter.com/Cowry_team) to get the latest news.

You can run a mixed setup with Cowry, but in my experience that will have weird issues down the road. I have a mixed test rig, and Claymore freezes sometimes out of the blue.

Correct, we don't support Vega cards yet.

Interesting! Do I need to install any driver or mining app after I burn the pendrive? I have some p104 is there a support for those cards?

Drivers are pre-installed and miners are also and we regularly update the miners remotely.
p104 cards are supported as well.

Have you any ETA for support RX VEGA?

The issue is the broken driver from AMD. If they fix it, it will work but I don't foresee when will we have time to investigate the issue with the driver.

Sure, you can access the beta version of the app here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.evolutionsoft.cowry
But you still need to signup through the website then you can sign in to the mobile app. Let me know how it goes if you give it a try.

What sort of demand do you anticipate from business trying to outsource their ML applications?

If your OS can broker our CUDA supply with this demand, it would be a game changer--it is difficult for the average miner to connect with this sector. They often have other hardware requirements RAM / CPU etc. significantly higher than the average mining rig, making it difficult for most miners to rent to them.

In the first look it's going to be very useful app! I can see every single cards hashrate, temperature and I can make a full setting in there, I just love it!
The OC settings a bit difficult for me and I missing a push notification.

To be honest it is hard to guess the demand, but if I take into account that AI/ML is growing like insane and the fact we could be a lot cheaper than AWS/nvidia and alike, and in our setup the researcher can do whatever they want on their machine and just use the remote GPUs to train and sample the model, while keeping everything on their machine, I expect them prefer os over the competitors.

You can use the previous one if you are already using that, but for new rigs it is recommended to burn the latest.

im asking this question in all seriousness as i would like to try this out but what compelling reason or argument do you have as to why people should use your OS instead of smOS or HiveOS. what new or better or different features does yours offer that the other two dont? thanks

In the current state Cowry is quite similar to those, except we will have our mobile apps released soon(as far as I know they don't have that), so you will be able to manage your rigs on the go.
What will make us quite different in a few months is the option to put your GPUs up on a marketplace, where AI/ML researchers can rent it for a higher value than you would earn by mining coins. Our architecture won't require any extra hardware(extra RAM, high-end CPU, extra SSD storage, etc) in a rig, since the only thing the researchers will rent is the GPU.
Another cool feature we are working on is an open hardware rig resetter, you can buy the hardware part and just put our firmware on it and you can manage it from your Cowry account.

And I assume it is an 8GB pendrive? If so, my guess is there it isn't 8GB(some of the ones are just ~7.5) and it doesn't have enough free space.

Could you please do an md5 checksum verification?
This is the zip: b11a1ffd16597e1525146a6961842223
And the extracted ISO: 8da9e0f9f23d3f553c3187031a0968b9

Let me know your OS if you don't know how to do it and I will help you.

I was able to reproduce this issue. It looks like if you are trying to flash the zip directly with Etcher it fails for some reason. But if you extract it first, then flash the ISO it works. I will try to figure out what causing it, in the meantime please extract the zip before flashing.

RX Vega is not supported, setup with Cowry you will have problems. It will be necessary to pre-install the application for drivers.

There is a little update from us:
  • We introduced payment plans and Cowry OS if free to use for 1 rig: https://cowry.io/#pricing
  • We started our crowdfunding campaign this month and already have some amazing backers!: https://cowry.io/funding.html
  • Later this week we will publish documentation on how to setup Sonoff based devices for remote resetting rigs and get power meter data into Cowry OS from Sonoff devices

You click that orange button and it will take you to a page with the answers. But in short, we are working on making remote GPU virtualisation possible and enable miners to rent their GPUS to AI researchers.

We've added a section to our help page about setting up Sonoff(https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-wifi-wireless-switch.html) with Cowry as a remote resetter.
We've also added EWBF Cuda Equihash Miner v0.2 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4466962.0)
